Oooo nice to see the three posters at the front of the theatre have been changed from the old to the current cast!

Lovely quiet dayseat queue for tonight, getting tickets for a friend who's come over from New Zealand so hopefully she'll enjoy the front row view.

Saw the new cast today. Agree with Theatremonkey for the most part. Elena as Lauren is 90% of the way there. She's almost got the role nailed - just not quite quirky enough in places. Actually preferred David Hunter to Killian - something a bit more boyish about him - although oddly the clash with Lola near the end felt more out of place than it has on earlier trips.

So, just back from the show. I really enjoyed the first act: great coreography, David Hunter is ADORABLE and there are some big laughs. The second act is a mess with little to no plot and the two pseudo-introspective 11 o'clock numbers don't help that much in that way, if not to provide cheap sentimentalism. And I H-A-T-E when the closing number turns into curtain call... I wouldn't go again, but it was quite enjoyable all things considered.

Pfff, I blooming adore it. Saw it as well tonight, still love love loving Matt Henry, his performance delights me every time. Miss Killian madly, but David Hunter is doing fine. Prefer Elena as Lauren. Show is in fine form.
gonna add a little something in the bad behaviour at a show thread as its too good to just leave on here.

Won the lotto tonight, first time entering... what's the view like from the front row?
Wonder how many people enter each one.

Killian goes to Broadway for 6 months!

Wow, so that means it is planning to be running through at least June on Broadway! Great news for both Killian and the show, especially as I know they do struggle sometimes when it is not the weekend or the holidays but glad to see they are still continuing with a great musical rather than some Broadway shows that run a week or two on 60%/70% capacity anc close automatically.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the final Broadway Charlie. There is surely too much competition for a theatre that is merely adequate at filling seats at the current time.

I agree, it isn't selling how it has previously, even though it is a terrific show! Still, if it does close come June, it would of managed a run of over 4 years which is in no way to be looked down upon! it wasn't even expected initially to last as long! And the London Production I expect still has at least a healthy year or so left in it and it is still touring the US and around the globe so it is a tremendous success, even if the Broadway Production was to end!

Let's be honest: it's an OK show that has done very well for itself.
It's not one for the ages.

I imagine it'll run until at least September 2017 to capitalise on the summer audiences but that does depend when and if a show wants the theatre it's in. It could run a bit longer to say January 2018 if the replacement show isn't ready to open until March or April 2018.

Thrilled for Killian, but I still think it's totally Matt Henry's show.

I watched this again last weekend. And I have to say I was highly impressed by David Hunter. I was never a fan of him in Once. Having seen Killian and Paul on my last two visits I wasn't expecting to like David more than Paul (Killian just isn't for me). But he honestly blew me away. Wonderful portrayal and what a voice. Loved seeing Jason Winter as an Angel too. And Matt Henry is still the star of the show.

I enjoyed Killian Donnelly's performance in "Memphis" and "Commitments", so at first I was a bit disappointed, to learn about the cast change a week before my first visit to "Kinky Boots". But I have to agree with you. David Hunter did an amazing job, as did Matt Henry.

So now cast change has been in place for around two months, how is Elena Skye? Really interested to see how she is considering this is her West End debut, I loved Amy Lennox when I saw it

From what I know I think Elena is very like Lauren personality-wise (judging by social media/hearsay), so the first time I saw her (about two weeks into her run) as Lauren it felt a bit forced and awkward. I went back a few weeks later (late September) and she seemed a lot more natural. For a debut I thought she was a very strong performer even if she took a little time to settle in. She has a fantastic voice for the score imo. I saw Amy as Lauren a couple of times and loved her.
