Funny souchyboyy, I'd also thought how great Cate Blanchett would be for ALNM. And maybe a final bow from Elaine Paige as Madame Armfeldt.

The original production of Phantom. Can we go there yet?

My absolute dream would be Cate and Julie Andrews as Madame A. Doing a 5 week run at the Coliseum. Judi Dench and Anne Reid have proved you don't need to be great singers to be able to put the characters and the numbers across well enough (Juliet Stevenson played Desiree in New York and whilst not a singer, acted it very well).

An actual full revival of Sunset Boulevard in the West End with extravagant sets. The Göteborg Opera did a production a few years back and it was almost a replica of the movie. I adored that production and think I even ended up liking it more than Trevor Nunn's original (which I liked too). They borrowed some of the set pieces for the Coliseum (not to mention Max!)...would have loved to have seen the whole production transfer. I would agree that we are also overdue a revival of A Little Night Music (especially after seeing the Holland Park one they did last summer). I would prefer a large-scale, lush one this time, rather than what we got with the Menier...so the Coliseum again might be the way to do it.

A real revival of Aspects of Love. The recent one's with the super "scaled down" (i.e. Cheap) productions and worse yet, orchestrations don't count for me. There was a thread here yesterday, which has since disappeared, about a potential major Andrew Lloyd Webber revival next year. I too would love to see a proper Aspects of Love revival. ALW's older work seems to have fared better with recent revivals than his new productions, so hopefully this would work in the West End.

Does that song really need amending? I suppose maybe the 'young heart skip a beat' part. Otherwise it's quite sweet, isn't it?

Problem with Aspects is that everyone in it is thoroughly unlikeable. No redeeming features whatsoever. I’m not sure I want to sit through an evening of thinking how awful they all are, regardless of some nice tunes.

The other problem is everyone sleeps with everyone til there's no one left to sleep with and it ends. And I still don't care, I love it anyway. But that's because I grew up listening to it - I always wonder how it sits for general audiences.

I would love to see this but I doubt any producer would gamble on it. I think it only ran the length it ran in its original incarnation because, at that point, ALW was the hottest ticket in town. This is the show that marked the turning point. Personally, I love it. It's far more adult/play-like than most musicals, despite being through-sung. Maybe one for Regent's Park? It could sit beautifully there. I always wish the Menier production had produced a cast recording.

I’m probably alone here but I’d love to see Love Never Dies revived and Sunset Boulevard. I know it’s unlikely to happen but I do love the musical Dear World which I last saw with Betty Buckley at the Charing Cross theatre. Sadly is shut early and I wasn’t able to make a return visit.

I seem to remember that the Forbidden Broadway parody retitled ‘Love changes everything’ to ‘I sleep with everyone’… Those original orchestrations by David Cullen though - I love the ‘sound’ of the show on the OLCR

I'd love the Menier to do Ragtime. I think it's work really well in there. That or Parade.

Oh yes I'd like Parade too. I would mostly love a revival of Martin Guerre more than anything.

While I would be thrilled if they were talking about Aspects or Love Never Dies, I wonder if the rumor had to do with ALW on social media talking about Starlight Express? He did have a workshop of a revival before the pandemic

I'd love the Menier to do Ragtime. I think it's work really well in there. That or Parade. The best Ragtime I saw was at The Landor - Unfortunately now long gone, but hearing that score sung unmiked by such a great cast in a room that seated 50 people, was thrilling.
Although SEDOS are doing it in October, i'd love to see the Southwark Playhouse production of Carrie come back, especially with Kim Criswell at Margaret. There was some interest in transferring it at the time, but it all fell through.

I'd love for Southwark's Dog fight and Carrie to return.
I'm also wanting a really scaled down Night Music and Merrily.

Been thinking about this recently, but I wouldn't mind seeing 'Evita' get another major revival, whether it be the original Hal Prince production, or a brand new one, as I've never actually seen it live, nor the film adaptation.

The Bock/Harnick Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Fiorello! has a great score and an interesting script. (It tied with The Sound of Music for the Best Musical Tony). About New York's Mayor LaGuardia, who served 1934-1945. The political plot is still relevant, and, since musicals about New York seem so popular (enough with Guys and Dolls already!), it should work in London.
Here's one of the songs about political corruption:
(The Bock/Harnick score for Tenderloin is also one of their best, but the book evidently has problems.)
