Well that’s saved me money not buying a ticket. What a shame  He’s a brilliant actor! Disagree. I can see him ‘acting’ in every role he plays. |

He was brilliant in A Christmas Carol. I’m glad they’ve gone for a British name rather than cast an American actor. I’ll be very curious to they get to play Scout

I'm also in the category of "not liking Rhys Ifans". I know lots of people like him, but he's not to my taste. But I was excited about this production, so will have to weigh things up.

At least he'll be in a real play rather than the embarrassing piece of bilge in which he is currently trapped at the Royal Court.

I've a slot in August and I think it's between this and Sunday in the Park. Can't decide. Can anyone who has seen both recommend which to go for?!

Yeah, I like him but it doesn’t necessarily make this a must see production. I suppose they’re relying on students coming see it.

Well this puts me in between a rock and a hard place. I can see it this February while I’m in New York for a working vacation with Ed Harris. Or, I can wait until this summer to see it. To be honest, I’ll probably see it on Broadway because I like Ed Harris.

Priority booking access now open to DMT+ members, prior to public booking on Friday at 10am. Show is currently booking until Sat 8th August but I wonder if the plan is for an open ended run?

Premiums £150 and £100 but plenty of decent seats at £75. Back rows stalls £47.50.

Bit confused how i managed to book this on the 31st oct... They had a presale for Preview Performances, running until 13 June or so, but this is the first time that the full run has been on sale. It's a bit Sorkin vs Ifans for me on this, I'm a big fan of the former, but not of the latter. And for a part that was cast in NY with Jeff Daniels and Ed Harris, I just don't see Ifans as the same type of actor. |

I got the presale mail so managed to get something a little more reasonably priced than the top end. Nothing against Ifans but he wouldn't be my first choice. I still have fond memories of the Barbican production so would have skipped out on this if it wasn't for Sorkin who makes it a must..

Trying to think of where I can sit for prices I can justify... did anyone see this in New York? Would back of the stalls with the major overhang be problematic with the set or is it all at ground level?

I'm also puzzled by the casting of Ifans here. I'm sure he's a versatile actor and will make a valiant stab at this, but they really needed a venerable US star like Daniels or Harris a) to sell advance tickets at these prices and b) to credibly lead such a fundamentally American story. For UK audiences his image is too alternative and too Welsh to make him congruous as an upstanding Mississippi lawyer, and for the overseas tourist dollar he's just not sufficiently well known.

Dunno about the top of the stage, but I believe the way the main staging was on Broadway anything other than dead centre was a plethora of missing action. |
