I'd be surprised if a big name didn't tske over, considering it is almost the ideal star role in thst you don't have to dance, you're only really in Act 1 and your scenes are quite evenly spread and you get the last star bow (well, Julian Marsh does, but you get my point).

“There is one really decent singer: Jane McDonald, who plays the nurse. Alas, she can sing but she sure can't act.” Well how very dare you reprint those vicious lies!!I saw Jane in Romeo and Juliet and even have the mini cd with her song!!I am sure she would have made a great Dorothy, but I am sure she will get other opportunities. Lets not forget she did Grizzabella in Cats the other year.

I have said it since the show opened, Louise Dearman is perfect for it. A tad young bit age her up a notch and shes good to go! She'd kill it vocally! I would LOVE to see Louise Dearman in this role! When I saw Kristen Gaetz the other week playing Dorothy I would say (although I don't know, purely judging on appearance) that she is probably quite a bit younger than Sheena Easton and she was great in the role and really suited the costume, wig & makeup!

danieljohnson14 I just saw that tweet & immediately thought of you! (Though I don't understand why you so dislike Chris Howell, personally I quite like him in the show.)

(Though I don't understand why you so dislike Chris Howell, personally I quite like him in the showm) He was great in Side Show, and he was there in Wicked. I don't dislike him as a person. But I think its just a real shame considering he is literally the only thing wrong for me in this show. When you are in a comedy role, the key is to be funny. I'll leave it at that. Go see the understudy, I'm tempted too. 😂😂

^ I find he is fairly amusing. Shuffle Off To Buffalo is one of my favourite numbers. I'm afraid I don't have any spare show slots till February, due to my high Mischief Movie Night attendance rates!

You ejkoy yourself lovely, I like the number too, I think Jasna is hilarious! My personal favourite is the 42nd Street sequence. I'd go as far as to say that whole sequence, from Clare in the spotlight to the staircase, is my favourite musical sequence ever. Just magical!

I’ve heard some crazy names thrown around for Dorothy, Mel C being one of them (can’t see that happening though!!!), all speculation at the moment though.

Also, Dan Burton would be good - think he played the part in Paris. For Peggy, Gemma Sutton comes to mind, as does Lauren Varnham.

And his scene in Gypsy really was, bar Imelda, the takeaway from the show for me. He was fantastic as Tulsa, and lowkey shoulda won that Olivier he was nominated for in my opinion. I would wonder if he is maybe a little too old for Billy, but I think regardless he would be fantastic.

I'd be surprised if it closed this year, at the earliest it would be early 2019 I would imagine. But we will see. Its because everyone is guessing that it will close at the end of each booking period rather than letting it go with the flow like most shows so I can see where the confusion would come in. But nope, no closing date is planned as of yet.

I hope so as I'll be back in London at end of Oct and would love to see this again it's currently booking until December 2018. The initial rumours suggested an 18 month venue refurbishment followed by Frozen opening in summer 2020, so if this stacks up to be true then it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that 42nd Street will close at the end of its current booking period. However, as has been discussed on here at some length, it's currently doing much much better than anyone thought (I believe that the original plan was for a limited run, followed by a limited return of Mary Poppins before the refurb), so if sales are still strong come the Autumn, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see an extension into 2019.

I can deal with how it is with him on now, six times in you get get used to fast forwarding his parts in your head or focusing on the Ensemble, Jasna or the choice of hairdo of the lady in front of you and questioning why she went for that look in public.
