Doesn't the Lyric also now have a statue of him in the foyer or something? All of this must be making Nica Burns a little uncomfortable surely.

Exactly the same as, no one wants to see Kevin Spacey now.
Didn’t a fellow board member ‘firefingers’ who works in the industry, say last year it is beginning to struggle? But with so many other shows closing, this may have helped Thriller, even so if the box office is hit by a 10% slump in sales because of this, that would be significant and could easy trigger closing notices.

I don’t think this show (sadly) will be affected.
There are enough die hard fans out there who will continue to see it.
The utter waste of a theatre will continue.

The public has short term memory issues. Give it 3 months and most people will have dismissed this story from their memory and just remember the lovely songs and dances.
I tend to think this too...
(unless others come forward and it becames an ongoing tide that doesn't stay out of the press for some time).

Idk if sales will be affected. Stories about this guy being a paedophile have always been there and never seemed to be affecting the show. Superfans and tourists are the main audience of Thriller. Superfans will still see this (and will still believe he's innocent, cause you know, they are superfans!). Tourists too, as this have only aired (I think) in the US and in the UK. Of course some of us who live in a different country have seen it, or have read about it, but not everyone's had access to the documentary or knows about it. In fact I was talking to some friends and they had no idea this was out there.
Yeah, it's surprising. I've spoke to a few contacts (colleagues etc) who know next to nothing about it. Not everyone is as plugged into popular culture as we are.

I suspect its a comparatively cheap show to run (compared with other musicals) and as long as the money keeps rolling in (Evita style) the show (I am sorry to say) will roll on and on...…

Ugh. And the fact they are referring to it as a musical makes me cringe.

Perhaps our best response to this show is never to post to this thread again. Don't close it - just ignore it. FOREVER.

Always wondered why they don’t switch the songs around in this.So many MJ hits not in the show.I can think of at least 10 that are very well known and not in the show....or they could do a Thriller Part 2?

So I finally saw this earlier and well...
The cast are great, one was dripping with sweat and I enjoyed the routines but it is just mindless tourist fodder and there is nothing wrong with that but I did find bits of it baffling (Human Nature with a pyramid backdrop? Bob Geldof amongst the great leaders during Man in the Mirror)
I think it needs refreshing with some songs. Why is Heartbreak Hotel there but not Jam (even though a basketball clip is featured) for example.
Here's to another 10 years :/

Because ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ is a total bop and ‘Jam’ is derivative 90’s Teddy Riley produced pap?

Jam would work far better with the white poor sound design (and the basketball graphic suggests it was there and taken out or they forgot to put it in?)

Can't say I'm not pleased to see it move on. I wonder if this is a way of quietly closing it with a bit of dignity in light of recent revelations.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they plan to move to The Garrick.

Wherever they end up, it will be a waste of a theatre space. Put this on in concert venues, do one nighters wherever - just leave theatres for plays and musicals. It is a concert - that is what the marketing calls it - so place it where it belongs.
