Hello lovely people. Does anyone know (as I've never seen Thriller Live), is the band on stage on in a pit? I believe on stage. At the back centre underneath the raised walkway.

Ha. I'm not sure I could sit through it. I'm just looking at hiring the theatre for the afternoon.

I know it gets slagged off on here, and for that reason I've never seen it in London, but I chanced the tour and really enjoyed it. Rory Taylor's interpretation of She Out Of My Life was exquisite, the best I've ever heard to be honest. No plot of course, but I knew that before we went but a very enjoyable, feel good evening for us. All the cast worked their socks off.

At the back centre underneath the raised walkway. Either there, or in the pub, as usual with theatre bands... As a west end musician myself, who doesn't drink... please feel free to update your generalisations.

I've heard of you. In response to the post above, yes, I think we can be a little harsh on it. Rory Taylor, for example, is a very talented performer and there have been many other talented performers in this show. For me, it's the fact it really is a tribute show and I just really dislike that sort of thing. After three (double) G+T's i'd see it again.

It’s a tribute show/pop concert filling a prime West End theatre, where Dear Evan Hansen or Something Rotten could possibly reside instead...is all. I think that is my objection to it.

Reminder Theatre And particularly the WE Is not a charitable institution Designed to respond to the personal tastes and fantasies and whims of the forum Thriller is presumably still running at a very good profit Which is why it is still there The two shows you mentioned Will likely not be a guaranteed success in the WE anyway And it doesn’t make sense to close a profitable show For an unknown risk

I actually saw half of this show on my last London trip, I will explain. I made friends with some other tourists on a walking tour who had an extra ticket for this and they invited me to go with them, which was sweet. It was a Sunday and I wasn't seeing any shows that day so I thought why not, really how bad could it be??? Well... Believe everything negative you have read about this show on here, it was so so bad! 😱 We all left at the interval and went to a pub instead which was a much better choice.
I think this show is good for people who don't speak English and are huge MJ fans, since there's no storyline. In my opinion it's a waste of time and money but the theatre was full. The audience was super casual in their behavior. People were talking, singing, drinking, eating and constantly getting up to go to the bathroom. If I was offered a free ticket again for this I wouldn't go. This really has to be the worst show I have ever seen. 😂
P.S: I made sure to buy drinks at the pub for my new friends to compensate them for the ticket they gave me. Seemed only fair but so this show actually did cost me money, grrrr...

I’m not allowed a personal preference? I didn’t ask to see it’s accounts, merely stated that I think it’s clogging up a valuable site. (But thanks ever so for the lecture...)

WILL THIS SHOW PLEASE JUST CLOSE!!! I'm disappointed. I clicked on this thread thinking it would FINALLY be a closing notice, allowing the Lyric to host a decent musical (e.g. Waitress or DEH)

I had a option to see Thriller but I also needed to have a tooth extracted without pain relief, The later options seems the best choice.

I clicked on this thread thinking it would FINALLY be a closing notice, allowing the Lyric to host a decent musical (e.g. Waitress or DEH) They're still managing to sell £88 seats for this so I wouldn't be surprised to hear of another extension past April next year. It's funny, and I forgot to mention this before, but some tourists bumped into my friend and I on Shaftesbury Avenue a while back and asked what they should see on the street. I told them to see the Ferryman as I loved it and knew it had a limited run. My friend told them to see Les Mis, a classic production and a great musical to see here in London. Guess which box office they went straight to...yep...THRILLER! I suppose there will always be something that we slag off and love to hate in the West End. Remeber STOMP!?

If it’s all there is left of Michael Jackson I totally get why people need a piece of it. He was a fantastic live performer, the BAD tour in particular being an epic spectacle the likes of which only really Madonna was doing at that time. But put it on the end of a pier or at the Shaftesbury where those that want it can go and find it.

It's not 'clogging up a vaulable site' it is delivering what west end theatres need, which is a popular show with people buying tickets. That is the purpose of theatres, thats why shows that dont sell close. Thriller is a valuable show that is keeping a valuable site running. It's also keeping lots of performers, tech people, musicians and theatre staff employed.
Just because its not for you doesnt mean it isnt for anyone and the elitism and snobbery that this show brings out in some people is rather unpleasant.

Personally, I strongly disliked Thriller, but was in a minority in the audience. I took 3 friends from Romania who loved it. There's no doubt it suits overseas visitors well, as there is no story, just well known MJ songs and it's easy to watch with no need to understand English. Now that Blue Man Group, Stomp and Cirque have moved on, there is little else that has no language barrier in the West End.
The audience seemed to be 75%+ tourists in a nearly full theatre.
I agree it would be great to get the theatre back for a new show, but, as other posters have said, it's still working commercially, and I can't see it closing anytime soon.

I don’t quite get what they’re going to do. They’re advertising Russell Kane and Jon Culshaw as “the hosts”. Not sure how you “host” a West End show which runs night in and out, let alone with Culshaw probably squeezing impersonations in too.
Peter Andre - not a man who is known for any Michael Jackson covers or relationship. Is he just going to turn up at curtain call and perform Man in the Mirror or something?
Is this meant to attract people to buy tickets?
