Errr, excuse me. I have been the first on many occasions to break news on shows here- have you? No, didn't think so. Re sources- a large number of my closest friends work on these west end shows and so do I. I have a lot more information than you and of course I'm not going to name sources. I'm more than happy to reveal some things here as it's always exciting to hear what's coming up. Some things I won't/can't talk about Your lack of knowledge is clear when you say the only theatre Comet could go to us the New London. You obviously don't know how the business of transferring shows works. Don't believe me but I'll let you apologise when Comet gets announced any day now. Likewise Tina at the Aldwych. Likewise Strictly Ballroom at the Phoenix. You're welcome. I woudln't take his comments too seriously. No source, its just rumours. Plus the only theatre it could really go into with its design is somewhere like the New London as it change design of the auditorium for different productions all the time. |

And furthermore, I do have friends that work in the West End. But I respect their jobs and choose to not divulge information that they have passed on to me.

I'm not trying to be a dick to you or what you know love, I'm really not. I mearly just meant in my initial comment before all this "wait until a source, until then take as gossip" because that is the usual train of thought on this board. It has nothing to do with you personally, it is said on this board all the time. |

I have doubts about Dear Evan Hansen coming to London but wouldn't be at all surprised if it did. However I would be shocked if Great Comet came to London and had a theatre already sorted. I just cannot see it appealing to a West End Audience at all!

Well it is and I'm with you- unless Groban does it here, I can't see who on Earth it would appeal to. Even with him , it will struggle. I have doubts about Dear Evan Hansen coming to London but wouldn't be at all surprised if it did. However I would be shocked if Great Comet came to London and had a theatre already sorted. I just cannot see it appealing to a West End Audience at all! |

It will appeal to people that like good/innovative theatre. Yes absolutely! I hope it comes over as I would love the chance to see it. But a musical adaptation of War and Peace might be a hard sell to your average West End audience member |

If it flops, that would be one expensive flop!
This thread really should be moved to the rumoured thread, it is a lot more about currently rumoured transfers with no official confirmation than just Dear Evan Hansen!

As I argued in another thread, the last time a risky American show was given a West End house was Spring Awakening 8 years ago. It's about time we try again. |

My point is-
It sells well in NYC because Groban is a big star there.
When he's off, the queue for refunds is insane.
It's sales will plummet when he leaves
He most likely won't be doing it in London .
In NYC it feels bold and new, but we have more original and challenging theatre here, so it won't be as big a deal I suspect.
Time will tell.

And I disagree about the theatre here being more original and exciting, certainly not the case for musicals.

I would love to have this come over. I can't stop listening to the cast recording! So much that. I really wasn't expecting to like it but some of the songs are so well crafted I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Some of the songs, as you say, are so well done! I love "For Forever", "Waving Through A Window", "Requiem" and obviously "You Will Be Found". They are constantly on repeat for me right now. |

I entirely understand why you can't reveal sources and I'm not asking you to, but I don't know you from Adam so I equally won't completely believe you (or anyone else who posts any unconfirmed information on this board for that matter) until it's fully confirmed - until then I consider that sort of information interesting insight but don't pin my hopes on it definitely being true. Not sure why you're so offended at that - it's only logical not to take something as 100% confirmed until it is officially announced! |
