How huge is huge? I saw it in December and can't recall the cast being unusually big. I think it could have more appeal than DEH. The one with most appeal is Groundhog Day, and that has its publicity work made for it in London already. 37 according to the website. Remember there are people up in the mezzanine at many times too. vs 18 for Come from Away (includes 6 standbys), 13 for Evan Hansen (includes 5 standbys) and 24 for Groundhog Day. 5 or 6 Standbys?  ? Wicked are missing a trick not having a Standby for the Midwife! *sorry I couldn't resist! |

Well, tbh I don't care into which theatre Comet goes as long as it comes over  School of Rock seems to be doing okay, but I doubt it will have a VERY long run, so if it's the ugly New London Theatre for Comet, so be it. I think it would have quite some appeal - it has curiosity value because it's so crazy and over the top and is different from everything else (which is probably its USP on Broadway too). War and Peace is somewhat known, not least thanks to the recent BBC adaptation. It may also bring some curious Russian tourists in. I'm quite sure it has more appeal than Evan Hansen, which couldn't be more American if you painted Ben Platt in the stars and stripes. |

I think DEH has way more appeal than great Comet. DEH will pull in all the teens and younger people who will claim it's the best thing ever and cry every time they see it.
Great Comet, unless it gets someone with name recognition like Josh Groban, will barely survive. Curiosity doesn't get people in paying lots of money

Well, everything about Come From Away was simple and pedestrian, so I don't think it sets the benchmark. Yes, Comet might be expensive to mount. The theatre will have to be repurposed, probably requires special licensing for safety codes, and the costumes also look like they're worth a high price tag. But it's a fabulous show and a great night out. See I couldn't warm to Great Comet at all and found it rather underwealming and self indulgent. Come From Away however I thought was much stronger, the time flew by! I think there is a place in London for all the current Tony nominees for best musical, but Comet and CFA would definitely be the hardest sells. CFA is a very basic set and could potentially do a limited run. Great comet would need to go for a long run. |

Only problem is that London theatre, from what I see, and I tend to see a lot, hardly has any teens or young people in attendance. I would say the majority of people tend to be in their late 20s and above. |

Maybe that's not a problem — maybe it's an audience ripe to be tapped into.
Also, it DEH could scoop up all the kids who couldn't afford a ticket to Hamilton.

I still don't understand why there has never been a London production of Next To Normal... we're getting a production in September here in Spain, and trust me, Spain is the country of Jukebox Musicals (It's a shame that we're getting The Bodyguard before Wicked tbh)

He was singing 'For Forever' on The Daily Show' and sounded hoarse and strained throughout. I'd much rather hear the likes of Liam Doyle have a crack at it (I'm convinced) than some patchy yank who happened to originate it. |

I think it can; they just need to not build the show around whoever is the new Evan. I can see why they took that risk with their original Evan, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way going forward.

I'm saying this as someone who hates the show outside of his performance so we'll agree to disagree haha. I think a weaker actor will make the character come across as completely unlikeable and unsympathetic.

What makes you think a non-Platt would necessarily be weaker? I think it's just one of those rare cases where the actor fits the role perfectly and wont be matched. When I was waiting in the box office the other day, I saw 3 different groups of people ask when the next standard priced tickets were available and leave when they found out it would be after Platt had left the show. |

I think you're wrong. Another young actor could work wonders in this role. What makes you think a non-Platt would necessarily be weaker? I think it's just one of those rare cases where the actor fits the role perfectly and wont be matched. |

Well opinions are a marvellous thing! I think Platt makes the role what it is, on paper the character is highly unlikeable.

I'd take Strictly Ballroom for the Phoenix - I don't want The Girls to close - but that is a replacement I'd be happy with. Tina at the Aldwych, less happy, but could be worse.

And you don't know if/how much information I have on any upcoming shows so its not really right to say that.
