Several sources tell me this is not reopening, hope this is not true! I will be shocked if this is true.

Something to do with high running costs - paying the original creatives a lot per week etc.

I do not believe that at all. I’m almost certain that ALL creatives would waiver their royalties or reduce them in order to get the show up and running again.
Plus it had an excellent advance.

Creatives are entitled to royalties set in original contracts negotiated with US Equity, sometimes easier to close then pay them:( Also no reopening plans announced yet unlike other Delfont Mackintosh productions and the FOH signs have been removed somewhat as of the other day when passing.

Seems doubtful to me too - Sam won the Olivier not too long ago, word of mouth was strong, the cast appeared on the BBC Musicals concert, the film is opening later this year... they'd easily get folks back in. I'd see it again in a heartbeat.

the FOH signs have been removed somewhat as of the other day when passing. Weren't they taken down for The Comeback last year?

The frontage came down for a socially distanced show to go in - that's hardly a sign it's finished.

Perhaps they’re stalling for the movie to come out and then they’ll relaunch it to tie in?

Well the movie is due out Sept 24th and this won’t be opening much before then anyway.

Movie adaptation. Still Ben Platt but otherwise a new cast.

Indeed. Yes he's too old but he did give an amazing performance on stage and he does have a baby face so I can live with his casting for the film. Julianne Moore and Amy Adams also starring.

That's fairly standard casting for a teenager in American TV and movies.

Very true. It's 1978 again and Stockard Channing is a 34-year-old Rizzo 😂

I’d watch him sing the phone book, so it isn’t an issue for me, but then everyone else has to match up which is when it gets ridiculous. Is Amy Adams playing Zoe Murphy? 😎

Amy is Cynthia Murphy, thankfully. All of the other youngsters are in their 20s so they should all match up. The weirder casting for me is Julianne Moore - she's great, don't get me wrong, and aging beautifully, but she's still 60 which reads quite old for Heidi Hansen. But I'm sure she'll be great, and I don't think there's anything in the text about Heidi having had Evan at any set age or being a young mum.

I see Heidi as a younger mum who is trying to get her life back on track. Can’t really have a 35 year old mum if Evan is 27 though maybe?

I really don't think this is as unusual as people are making it out to be. Go look up the cast of any Netflix show or really... any American series with teenagers. It's common to have teens in their mid-late twenties playing teens.
Look at Glee - Cory Monteith was 32 when he died and he was playing a high schooler up until then.
Cole Sprouse is doing Riverdale at 28.
And age gaps between parents and their on-screen kids are usually not much too. This is all normal casting that you've seen in your favourite shows and never questioned, guys.

Ben will be brilliant and it'll be great to have his performance captured on film

Nobody said it was unusual...just hugely frustrating that nobody new gets a chance to break out.

With "The Comeback" playing the Noel Coward up until 25th July, I'd be hoping for a late August/Early September reopening for Evan... Finegrs crossed.

This feels like its literally the last show to announce its reopening Really weird considering the hype for the show and it barely even had a couple of months.

Didn’t somebody say that it struggled to make money due to the % the rights holders took? If so they’re probably waiting for the film to open and play to packed houses instead of quite full houses. Presumably it’ll go back into the NC but there’s no guarantee.
