I ticked it off my list yesterday.
For me it was OK but nothing special at all. I felt absolutelty zero emotional connection with the story.
I liked the plot actually i can see that there were lots of interesting issues there. I eould probably enjoy it more if it were a fully flashed out play
Other positive was the sound system and diction. Despite the American accents i understood nearly every spoken and sung word.
However i was mildly bored with it. The songs are good but all sound the same. Some of the adult dialog sounds fake. Singing voice of Evan wasnt strong and he must've been off key a few times (i am not musically trained at all but i winced a few times). Second half was less convincing especially with the sacharine end
Definitely won't be back

I've just finished reading the novel - I'd definitely recommend giving it a read as you get a lot more of what's going on in his head, and also more backstory for Connor. Was the musical based on a novel? I may give it a go. |

Revisited this tonight from the worst seat ever (£5) so I mainly listened to it, and found it to be a totally different show. Firstly Sam Tutty had a voice this time, and what a voice it is. He had toned down lots of the manic stuff too, keeping it for the first few scenes (that deal with the manic stuff!) Sweet and soulful at times, raw and devastating at others; his ‘Words Fail’ was outstanding. If he and McGinnis aren’t Olivier nominated it’ll be a travesty. I found it really quite moving. A respectful full house too...a rare commodity these days.

This show won six Tony's!! What awards do you think it might be nominated for at the Oliviers? New musical, actor (tutty), supporting actress (mckinness), set, lighting, score are probably locks for me? Lauren Ward deserves to be nominated more than all of them for me though |

Got a standing ticket for this last night, a steal!
I do love standing, as the view is perfect, no chance of a tall person in the way.
You Will Be Found - a stand out moment in the show. I blinked a lot so I didn't cry, probably looked like I had a weird twitch.
Went into the show blind (except for knowing Waving Through a Window). Very interesting story wise, don't think there is anything quite like it. Evan Hansen becomes quite an unlikeable character though, I spent most of the time thinking - not another lie!, Evan you silly cow.
A lonely white twink with social anxiety - we love relatable content! 4 stars

I’m a bit confused I thought all theatres were closing indefinitely? I’m supposed to be seeing the show on the 28th, I’m taking it that definitely won’t be happening?

They are taking it one step at at time, I suppose it's easier to deal with refunds, payments, et if they go week by week. Please don't bombard theatres with unnecessary e-mails or phone calls, everyone is as confused as you and answers will come when the time is right.
