Dynamic pricing is in full force for this at the moment! Had £50 rear grand circle tickets for next Monday which I booked on the first day they went on sale, noticed that next Tuesday there were premium seats in row B of the dress circle which were showing as the same price (usually these seats are up to £177.50 each), so gave them a call and they swapped them for me for a small admin fee. Bargain!

Saw this show Saturday evening. My expectations were sky high, so I was prepared to be disappointed, esp as I had seen #juliet the night before which I really liked. Well I was not disappointed. I was really into the story and the characters. I struggled whether to hate, dislike, like or love Evan, but I believed his motivations. In the end I loved him. I was a little surprised by the ending, but considering the relationship he builded with connor’s family, I accepted that and I found it refreshing that it ended rather well, while I expected that dramatic finish. I was very moved by the story. Everyone who had a difficult time at school will understand Evan’s way of working out things. I always love a set design with as little as possible on stage. Combined with lights you don’t need big sets to create great moments. All in all this been one of the most moving nights in theatre in a long time. I accept it wil not be everybody’s cup of tea. But in 35 years of visits to London, having seen hundreds of musicals/plays, I think Dear Evan Hansen is one of the best. Chess, I saw this on the 28th December and loved it all. Evan/Sam had me in tears for his two first solo numbers. I think that only this and The York Realist at the Donmar have moved me, in the past year of shows. I thought all the cast was great, and the direction. I can understand why some won't like it, but I would definitely recommend. The audience that night were totally silent (at least in the Grand Circle) and absorbed. The sound design was also perfect, and I could hear all the lyrics and dialogue. In ways it reminded me of Next to Normal - perhaps in the music. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

Saw this before Christmas, nothing to be said that hasn't already been said here.
Definitely not the target audience for this, all around me I heard mostly positive comments, but don't believe there were many tears (front of stalls). The "moral" of the show is questionable and it seems to appeal more to American than European audiences (therefore the hype).
Cast was great, loved the adult roles most. Still love the music, but is more enjoyable on CD uninterrupted than the live version with dialogue. 8/10

Surely an extension is imminent? I'm patiently waiting for them to release the next batch of tickets for June onwards.

Hi all! Know you’re all super helpful with seats, any comments on sitting in grand circle C5/6? Ive stood at the back of the grand circle and even from the back I felt really close to the action. And at the front it felt a bit like a royal circle instead of an upper circle if you know what I mean. I think the view will be great!

I'm confused. Wouldn't the original cast be on 12-month contracts?

Is standing room sold as ‘day’ tickets or will it come online at some point? Thanks

danb They do sell them online as there was some when I booked a last-minute seat last week. I'm assuming they release them for the current week's performances only, as there's some available this week at £15, but can't see any for future dates.

Trying to get my daughter in the same day we go for our £5 cheapies, but I think £120 is a little steep. 😂

So I liked this more than I thought I would. Though from what I'd heard did go in expecting very little. It was definitely a "glad to have seen, wouldn't go back" experience for me though. The main thing that struck me that I wasn't expecting was really how depressing it was, especially mid second act, lots of emotion. Thing with most of the 'sad' American musicals is they tend to do misery in a slightly saccharine or very earnest way - whereas this actually was genuinely quite depressing. So I was glad they didn't shy away from that. Having read comments on here I did think I would find the treatment of what Evan did very distasteful - but actually I didn't. I saw someone very troubled who got carried away with a lie until it was too late. His redemption was also not as nailed home as I was expecting. Was just in the last scene after clearly some time had passed. Thought Sam Tutty was amazing. Truly talented, I hope he gets the Olivier. He must be exhausted doing that every night! And all the cast were incredibly strong. Stand by my views on the music. It isn't for me. I just find it awkward and to my taste there is no pleasing melody and not enough range. Too many minor chords. And not in an interesting Sondheim way, just rather generic. I really felt the same in Come From Away. Both shows for me made me feel emotion in spite of the music not because of it. Which is not what I really want in a musical. I didn't particularly dislike the music - and much of it works in context - but I would never reach for the CD. And I kind of felt the show wouldn't lose much if it was a play. That said I had two young girls next to me who were beside themselves with excitement at hearing the first bars of every song, so what do I know. Maybe it's a generation thing. But yes, a challenging evening that I would recommend. But not a repeat one for me. 3 stars (would have been 4 had there been more melody that got in to my head). Oh - why are there more understudies than actual cast? Are they expecting illness to sweep through at a moment's notice? I mean I know this can happen but never seen so many covers for such a small show!
I've suspected for a while that you and I have quite similar tastes. And based on what you say I think I'll steer clear. I think the show would simply annoy me!!
I cannot even get through the cast recording. It's SO American, and sonically bland. The over earnest, heart on sleeve performances. Very cloying.

I saw this before Christmas and really enjoyed it. I think I had gone into it with quite low expectations, as I hadn't been sold on the cast recording, so was sure I wasn't going to like it. I think it was Sam Tutty's performance that sold it for me and I'd be happy to go again at some point.

Weirdly, I've just got tickets in the DEH lottery for next week, so looks like I'm going to see it again! Row Q in the stalls, which seems pretty good.

There's some fantastic dynamic pricing going on for DEH. Just got a £177.50 premium ticket, front circle, dead centre, for only £52.50. Nice
But who pays £177.50 for a theatre ticket??

I saw this last night and I completely fell in love with it. I already liked the music anyway from the cast recording, but seeing the story played out with such strong performances just blew me away. I didn't find anything saccharine or cloying about it, I found it genuinely touching. I rarely cry at anything but found my eyes leaking several times throughout.
Sam is astonishing. I can't remember the last time I saw such a performance from a leading man. He totally embodies Evan, he's rarely off-stage, and he acts the stuffing out of it, nailing every nervous hand movement and quiver in his voice. It's an exceptional performance for a debut and he should be recognised with awards. This isn't a show he can coast through and he gives it his all.
It's an important show for mental health awareness, it's rare to see that on stage and maybe it speaks more to those who have struggled with that (or are struggling). I could see a lot of my teen self in Evan, and although I'm not condoning his behaviour, I could totally relate to it.
Definitely my favourite original book musical to come along in a while.
Great view from Row S of the stalls with good legroom (paid about £50 when it first went on sale).
