I don’t think anyone’s trying to brag by finding out the cast first. Surely people are allowed to be excited and speculate about the cast?? It’s only natural that people will want to know with the show starting next month.

And on the topic of Luke Bayer - I would like to hear the score and not a unnecessary riffed up version. At least we know what it would have been like had a young Bobby Davro been cast. His voice is not in question; it is strong and steady...too clean almost for some of the anguished parts of that song. Theres not too much musicality in Ben Platt’s big notes on the recording. Just sadness, longing and impotent rage. I don’t need it gussied up, I need to feel it. Was this recorded at a holiday resort karaoke or something? Next up is Emma apparently. I hope she’s doing something by Little Mix to even it out a bit and put them all back on an ouzo filled high, because ‘Not A Day Goes By’ might have them all face first in the kids pool by midnight. |

This is gonna sound a lot more mean than I mean it to, but I'm glad Luke Bayer seems to have not been cast. He's perfectly talented and I'm sure may have been fine in the role, but his incessant 'campaigning' on social media to be in this show was completely insufferable. Amen. |

Stuffy casting directors, snooty agents and gossipy producers would NOT have liked Luke’s approach. It’s a rather closed very small shop and the words social media, desperation, over eagerness is severely frowned upon. |

I don't care about Luke Bayer and have never seen him in anything, so I'm not a fan rushing to defend her fave here. But I do find this approach mean and generally not nice. Like, wishing someone to fail only because someone wants to achieve something "too much"? Because I don't follow Luke I didn't "suffer" from "incessant campaigning". I may seen a couple of RTs in my feed, but again, because I have no negative towards him I didn't care at all. So for me this approach you and others are talikng about ("hope he fails because he's been dreaming of this too loud") looks like mean and rather toxic. (Not saying you are mean, but the aprroach). And it's bad for your karma! I really do believe that when you wish someone to fail like that sooner or later you'll be failing yourself - in something that is as dear to you as this part to this guy. So wish people well. Or at least don't bother following them if you dislike them. |

He’s a great actor but I’ve never heard him sing. I imagine he’d be good in the role too.

I think there’s a pretty fair split between productions that announce the cast ages in advance and those that don’t announce until rehearsals begin (or if you’re The Book of Mormon, not until the new cast start performances!) |

They haven't announced yet because the show is the star. Whoever are playing the leads, its highly unlikely they'll be a big name so there's no need for a big announcement bevause it will have minimal impact on the box office.
Some people in MT circles might have heard of them, but that's about it.
