Actually, with all the effort they’re going through with the open auditions to scout talent, I think we may get a graduate as Evan.

Actually, with all the effort they’re going through with the open auditions to scout talent, I think we may get a graduate as Evan. There is a separate day for graduates - it has been arranged with the casting team and the principals of the schools. So lots of ‘graduates’ (ie people about to finish their training) will not be going to the open call. Open calls are usually just a great way for the production to gain some exposure and media attention.

Luke would be incredible as Evan. I saw him as Jamie past Wednesday matinee. Unless Ben Platt wants to do the role in the UK, I can't see the producers going with any of the other Evans from BWay. But as they did with Jamie, why can't Evan Hansen be a person of color? There already is an Evan of colour in the US Roman Banks is "of color" and an understudy. As I don't follow when an understudy actually goes on in stage for a role, I don't know if he's actually performed the role for an audience. I believe the role has two understudies and one does go on every week. The next Evan is Andrew Barth Feldman (16yo) who is aged appropriately for the role. Andrew is doing 5 performances a week so Roman Bank's may have an opportunity to perform every week.

Recently though, my Twitter feed has been full of a million different covers of “Waving Through a Window”, so I will be glad when this is cast so that Twitter isn’t constantly the same thing.

So this is confirmed to open in November right?
I can only afford one London trip this year and I'm thinking of booking flights for December. Hopefully they won't postpone the show (it's weird we still don't have an exact date, isn't it?), and CFA survives till then (pretty confident it will).

I’ve heard 12th November mentioned by a couple of places.

The list to sign up for early access tickets closes today, so I reckon an announcement re: dates is imminent.
Maybe Baz will have some news tonight?

Oh lord please don't let it be Luke Bayer. He's virtually launched an online campaign for it, and all the teenage girls have got behind it (sorry that's such a sweeping statement).
He just does absolutely nothing for me and he's SO much on Twitter (like, to the point I had to mute him - I wasn't even following him but he was EVERYWHERE on my feed).
Glad he has fans, but nah, not for me.

Sure he’s talented but the way he’s approached the situation just seems really unprofessional to me.

There's no doubt he's talented, but I can't picture him as Evan.

I’d much rather an unknown or graduate got a shot and they filled it with quality support (Becky Lock as Heidi Hansen obvs)

There's no doubt he's talented, but I can't picture him as Evan. Ugh,no thankyou. Ive just watched his Waving through a window on youtube and it just felt incredibly desperate, forced and unnatural to me. Evan needs to be so believably socially awkward that when things get out of control you understand how he lets them spiral and don't just think he's being a complete arse,as his actions are pretty unlikeable really. Its a tough part to pull off. This kid just looks like a popular guy putting on loads of ticks, think id want to strangle him by the end of Act 1.

I think it would be nice to get an unknown in for him. I do think there's a major issue with so many existing and well known MT males auditioning so publicly auditioning and that is that Evan will feel quite unnatural and forced. I think it would wok really well with someone new who we have no pre existing idea of.

I'm hoping they find a great Evan from the open auditions they're holding!! thats 100% a publicity stunt and they'll already know who they're having. And that video of Luke singing Waving Through A Window is a carbon copy of Ben Platt, move by move... whats the point?

I believe the producer, Stacey Mindich was quoted as saying she is committed to hiring a British cast for the show. Baz had it in his column a month or so ago...

It would be such a great story if they discover a new talent from the open auditions, look at what happened on Broadway! A 16 year old debuting as Evan! Wow!

A 16 year old glee club champion...possibly the most well known young amateur musical performer in the country...but yeah, we’ll go with ‘unknown’!! 😂

I’m intrigued to see who they end up casting. As a few others have said, Becky Lock would make the perfect Heidi, but it would be pretty awesome to see a graduate as Evan, and as Zoe for that matter.

To be honest, "most well known young amateur musical performer in the country" really doesn't mean a *great* deal, I doubt most of the US could even name any of the most well known established professional musical performers in the country. Just 'cos this guy's got a solid background when you go digging (or you can feel smug about already knowing him because his niche neatly intersects with your interests, I guess) doesn't mean "unknown" is an unfair or silly thing to say.

It wasn’t meant rudely WT, apolgies if it came across that way. However Baemax, I have only come across this info via following DEH on twitter so hardly niche if we all share the same interests? Guess it just depends on how much interest you have, whether you can read...stuff like that. 🤣
