Jaqueline DuBois I would have thought. Not too shabby, at least Oda's songs will have some oomph!

I doubt it's her but I'm pretty sure Jackée played Oda Mae in some readings of the show. But I could be wrong. (I know Tichina Arnold was also one of the earliest Oda Mae's)

FACT: This is a brand new tour based on the original with brand new sets, different illusions, a slightly different book and some changes to the score. It is classed as a non-replica production.
FACT: Both Sarah and Andy auditioned for the role.
FACT: Sarah and Andy are only confirmed in the roles until the end of December when the winter break begins.
FACT: I am bemused as to why Kenwright has not released the remaining casting for the show yet, it opens in 2 weeks!
FACT: Carl is being played by the most well known experienced MT actor in the whole cast.
FACT: The original touring set is now in Asia awaiting to begin a 2nd Asian tour later this year.
We all need to give this show a chance in its new guise. It will be very different from what we have seen before and concentrate more on the story and the emotions more than the flashy sets and illusions. It has the potential to be a huge success, but people need to understand it is a NEW production and should not be compared to the original because it isn't the original.
We will all know at the end of the month how this show looks, sounds and feels. I do think they are brave opening in Wimbledon however, as the London press are more likely to be harsher than other regions and it is the first reviews that make or break a show.

Kenwrights website says it's the "original staging".
"Taking its inspiration from the classic movie, this innovative reimagining will feature an expanded book, new music and original staging"
I took that to mean the original sets and illusions.

The original staging (London) takes 3 weeks to get into the theatre and the last tour took 3 days to transfer from venue to venue, so the show has been redesigned to be more 'portable' and easier to transport

Ah, see, now I took "original staging" to mean staging that is original to this production, not a replica/restaging/revival (what you will) of the original London staging. If what you quoted from the website is correct, it does say "new music and original staging" as opposed to "new music and *the* original staging".

The "flashy sets and illusions" are what made the original show. The staging was phenominal.
Yes, typical BK - "original staging" as opposed to "the original staging!
"show redesigned to be more portable and easier to transport" IE - CHEAP!

unclefesterVery interesting - thanks for sharing!! Surprised how Sarah and Andy are only booked until Christmas as that's only a couple of months away but I wouldn't be surprised if they continue into next year. Just out of interest, how do you know all this?

Just out of interest, how do you know all this? There is a chance of a Girl's Aloud reunion next year hence why she has only been confirmed until December. (It is 5 months including rehearsals)
As to how I know all this, let's just say I know people who know people on the show!

Blimey I was only at the farewell gig five minutes ago. Have we got to go through all that again?

It looks like the casting extends into next year after all. The dates at the Liverpool Empire in April are being advertised as starring Sarah Harding and Andy Moss.

I counted only 15 in the cast. Thin for a full scale musical?

Well this is significantly scaled down, even for a UK Tour standard!

Well this is significantly scaled down, even for a UK Tour standard! It's Kenwright. What do you expect? That doesn't mean it'll be bad though. Jacqui Dubois and Sam Ferriday will hopefully be able to carry the show - very strong performers. And most Kenwright productions are very good - Blood Brothers, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita. Joseph is the only one I dislike.

Fingers crossed!
