I still remember the absolutely stunning use of the peppers ghost trick to make Sam appear to Molly near to the end was breathtaking and I did find the ending rather emotional. The Blue Room Illusion (a SORT OF Pepper's Ghost trick) is one of the most complicated stage tricks ever and requires a massive amount of fly space area (to give you a clue as to how it's done... it couldn't tour) and the whole show had to be designed around that 3 second illusion. Warchus, Kieve, Howell and Vanstone are the top theatre creatives when it comes to pure magical staging and they really do work well together. I didn't see it, but I am worried what a Kenwright production would look like as this show is all about the magic - though stuff in The Exorcist was quite fun.

Oh, I just loved 'Ghost' in London's glitzy West End. A rotten bunch of songs but the effects were absolutely smashing (wasn't there a fabulous one with him walking through a wall?) and Fleeshman's guns were a particular highlight. I'd have let him run his hands over my pottery wheel whenever he liked.

The Blue Room Illusion (a SORT OF Pepper's Ghost trick) is one of the most complicated stage tricks ever and requires a massive amount of fly space area Ah forgive me, you are very right about it being a variation on the blue room illusion, ( YouTube link for anyone who wants to see the original illusion). It amazes me that so much work went into working the show around the illusion just for those few seconds but it really was worth it - even from the front row there was no way of seeing the inner workings of the illusion and it was a real jaw-dropping moment. Does anyone know if the Broadway production included this illusion? The only video I can find shows everything else but this YouTube link

Yes, broadway had the same illusion,it just felt a little smaller to me (narrower stage/illusion area?). The illusion is my most “mind blown” moment I’ve ever had in a theatre.

Pretty sure that the first tour had that illusion to a smaller extent? I remember it being something to do with the big picture on the wall that made them able to do it.

The walking through the door illusion isn’t the same as the disappearing / reappearing one. The door illusion is just done through a projection so was easily recreated on the first tour. They couldn’t possibly do the “blue room” illusion on tour, you need wing space pretty much the size of the stage and it takes a lot of precision. And lighting!

I haven't seen either production so would someone be able to answer me, is it likely the one playing in Berlin at the moment will be like the original as it's playing at one theatre as opposed to a tour?

I think the Berlin production is a more elaborate production than the latest UK tour but it's still a brand new production, much less solely reliant on huge projection screens

I’m seeing this in Edinburgh. Tickets are fairly cheap so I think I’ll go for it. Hopefully the cast will be good and a certain Ms Harding won’t make an appearance.

That says they start rehearsing next month yet the earliest dates advertised so far are January, is this normal?! He's the only cast member announced so far too.

Stunt cast Carl if they must but I really hope Molly and Sam are proper musical theatre performers. I know Emily Tierney did the international tour, I would love to see her play Molly.

Have only seen Glasgow advertised - when in Edinburgh? Festival Theatre in February/March next year. On sale to friends of Edinburgh Capital Theatres only at the minute.

Glad that Moss and Harding are not featured, and I'm glad to see a return of Jacqui because I heard good things about her.

Very glad to hear that Niall Sheehy is going to be in it - I think he'll be an excellent Sam.

It's good to see them using pros rather than star casting that did the opposite of what star casting should do. I think if they're going to tour with a wafer thin set and illusion budget as they did with the last tour you need a stellar cast.
Even their die-hard fans turned against the production on its last run so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I haven't seen the show since London, so I haven't seen the first UK Tour, or the Trainwreck Tour either. So I'm hoping to go to this one!

Hopefully they'll have learned from the last tour and made some improvements!

I think the set/logistics will be the same but this cast will be a significant improvement.

It must be the same Kenwright your? Under creatives there isn’t anybody listed for illusions... so guessing there aren’t any. This just reminds me how bad I found the last tour and how it’s possible for different productions to make a show go from one of your favourites to one of your least. Great casting though... so who knows.
