A great show this year - and I know we say this every year, but probably a good time for some of the cast to go out on a high (Zerdin, Havers, Wilmot...), try a different town and give someone else a go at the Palladium. Get Paul back in drag and get a big female star to go alongside Paul and Julian... get Sharon Osbourne over from Nativity or bring back Dawn French? Or maybe Joan Collins? If Sharon Osbourne's in it I will not buy a ticket and will encourage others to do the same!

Are they doing day seats for this? I remember getting some for the panto a few years back but not sure they're doing them this time around

Going to panto is christmassy but the shows itself isn't.

I see on the Palladium panto website that this Sunday at 5pm is a special performance. Does anyone know what might be happening?

Does anyone know if Gary Wilmots Song is back in yet? It wasn't this afternoon. I'm quietly hoping someone will manage to get a copy of it so we can hear..

Good fun tonight. Upset at no Gary Wilmot song though! Anyone know what the song usually is?
I do wonder what they would do if one of the mains was ill, especially Julian. Surely they would have to cancel? I can't imagine they have a duplicate of all of Julian's costumes fitted to another actor.

Or they have a standby.

Gary sings a few words or a line or two from over a hundred different songs from musicals. He does each in its original style and they segue together into one performance lasting around 8 minutes. It's a masterpiece and was the absolute highlight of the show for me, drawing an instant standing ovation and huge cheers. I can see how it would be very demanding vocally and need to be cut if he starts losing his voice but such a shame nonetheless. As it seems a lot of showgoers aren't getting to see it, let's hope it's put on You Tube at the end of the run. It should garner millions of views as it needs to be heard several times to catch everything.

Pleased to report that Gary’s musical song was back by tonight’s 5pm performance. The whole cast have settled nicely into their roles and the show was really on fire - a lively (but well behaved) audience with great performers leading the way. A tremendous way to end 2019 and begin 2020! Happy new year to you all

Does anybody know what the paw prints are on certain performances on the website eg on Sunday? Does it mean that something is different?

Must have changed the script since I saw it, as he used his Cinderella material the first week. probably a good time for some of the cast to go out on a high (Zerdin, Havers, Wilmot...), try a different town and give someone else a go at the Palladium. Wouldn't be the same without the "Christmas Crazy Gang" though. Other cities have their regular panto cast, why shouldn't London? And yes, I'm being selfish... Are they doing day seats for this Not at the moment. It's every panto fan for themselves... I didn't see Cinderella and definitely recognised some of his material! I do like the regular cast but think they could get away with just keeping Julian, Gary and Nigel. Nigel as a running joke of course, maybe a demotion next year (nothing against him, he plays downtrodden well).

I was there this afternoon and have to say I loved it. To me it was by far the most spectacular of the recent Palladium pantos, absolutely stunning - you can see where the money has gone. That said, it's not so much a panto as a variety show, and it worked for me.
I had been getting tired of Julian's samey innuendos and Paul's repeated act, but this year's offerings seemed fresher and that bit different (or at least not as recent!). For me, though, Gary Wilmott was the star of the show. The musical theatre song was absolutely brilliant - and Matt Baker nailed the tightrope walk first time!

Saw the matinee of this yesterday, been years since I've seen a panto, and never seen the Palladium one before. I think what everyone has said about it being more of a variety show than a panto is right, there is very little plot, which was reiterated by several of the actors on multiple occasions. I hadn't heard of Gary Wilmot before but he was amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the Prince of Egypt when it opens, and hearing him sing "Through Heaven's Eyes". There seemed to be quite a lot of 4th Wall breaks, and corpsing so unsure if this was as the show regularly is, or whether they were having a bit of fun with the penultimate show. {Spoiler - click to view} Also, was there supposed to be a dove left behind in the magic act? It didn't seem so at the start of the section, but the way it was magic'ed away made it seem planned...
