The new cast were on excellent form last night. Tom Francis is absolutely perfect as Romeo. Though his voice is sightly rockier than Jordan’s and his portrayal less camp, he completely owns the character. As mentioned above, Lance and Angelique are certainly played hammier than they were before. This really worked for Lance. Julius found the humour in new lines, careful not to copy David’s characterisation. He was particularly funny during Teenage Dream, incorporating a whole host of new, suggestive gestures which received rapturous laughter. I’m not entirely sold on Keala Seattle. No doubt she has brilliant vocals and manages the score with ease, but I do miss Melanie’s natural delivery and overall warmth.
Cassidy, as always, stole the show during That’s the Way It Is, receiving the longest, loudest applause I’ve ever heard on a Tuesday night. She truly is a force of nature!
Overall, the show is in wonderful hands and in fabulous condition. Lastly, I must say that the Shaftesbury Theatre Grand Circle is a complete revelation. I’ve only ever sat Stalls/Dress Circle but last night I was in Row F of the Grand Circle and had a completely unobstructed view and could even see facial expressions clearly. I received my ticket through work, but it would usually be £30 - great value!

Just booked to see this show for the third time. I really adore this show. How’s the new cast settling in? Personally I think the show is really starting to find an audience. I’m looking forward to a cast announcement for the Toronto/Broadway production this Summer.

Watched the show last week- I loved it so much! Stand out was Cassidy Janson she is unbelievable. Special mention to the chemistry between Cassidy and Oliver (Shakespeare) they are utterly brilliant.

I’m looking forward to a cast announcement for the Toronto/Broadway production this Summer. I saw the new cast on the Press Night last week - and I've seen the show before in pre-covid times. I thought it was all running really well, and I didn't think you could tell that the new people were new.

The new cast have settled in really well, all 3 of the new principals impressed me, and the new ensemble members are excellent. Saw Alex Tranter as Shakespeare and he was really good, he worked brilliantly with Cassidy. It was a bit weird to see Ivan in the ensemble when Alex was Shakespeare, but Ivan has lost his Shakespeare cover altogether (Carl Man is 2nd cover)

They're pretty quick getting people through, just a bag check and ticket check and you're in. I'd still give yourself 10-15 minutes as there can be queues for programmes/merchandise and the bar, and depending on where you're sitting, it can be a bit of maze to get to the auditorium.

Hop on the Central line from St Paul's to Holborn - it's a 5 minute walk from Holborn to the theatre.

Yep, thank you. Can't access most of those seats though. I apologise in advance if this is patronising. I don't know what your access issue is but having just been this afternoon there is a lot of work going on outside the theatre with builders compounds taking up lots of space and the queue was not activly managed outside the theatre. Therefore it snaked around on and off pavements into the road and generally tricky underfoot so I would advise thinking about getting there early if that would cause you particular difficulties.

I think they meant that they couldn’t get to the theatre to book day seats, earlier in the day.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been at the Shaftesbury but back and in. the interval now.
It’s been a while since I saw Ivan as Lance and had forgotten how brilliant he is in the role. Happy he is getting a regular Lance show.
I think the Juliet covers have been ok but nothing special but Zara is a really worthy cover for Miriam Teak Lee. She is a very strong singer and is delivering the comedic lines a bit more slapstick/on the nose but she has the very great comedic timing and is pulling it off well and getting lots of laughs.
I’m definitely going to have to make the effort to see Zara again (well probably many more times truthfully)

Saw it yesterday, got a very late ticket for front row which I really liked.
Would give it 4 stars. It was genuinely funny and the songs are all good.
Cassidy Jansen as Anne was great, her voice was so beautiful and she got the biggest applause for her song. I also really liked Francoise and Lance (amazed he's the cover poster above - he was truly great)
I saw the cover for Juliet, she was amazing.
By the end the 'girl boss' mantra got a little tired for me, but overall a great show.

Just received an email warning me that my booking for Monday 6 June will be a singalong performance.
Thankfully I haven’t booked for Monday 6 June, but might be useful for some!

I grabbed a rush ticket yesterday as I wanted to see the new cast, who were in fine form.
Can't say the same about the audience though. I arrived to find someone in my seat who was very reluctant to move. As it happens, I wish I'd just grabbed a small seat as I was sat near to a group of people who did their best to talk during the show, even raising their voices to make sure they could hear each other over the actors. They didn't speak English unfortunately and did not seem to understand my attempts to communicate with them. They were better in the second half, so perhaps someone managed to get through to them.
Otherwise, an excellent view from near the front centre of the stalls.
The new cast have really made the roles their own and introduced a few changes. Tom Francis is especially good, as you'd expect. I liked Julius D'Silva too. Keala Settle, I thought a lot of her very funny lines were underplayed early on, but that might just have been the audience needing to warm up. They did more laughs as the show went on. Perhaps the audience were just expecting a different type of show.
Zara Macintosh was on as Juliet and I was impressed by her. An excellent voice.
They did seem a bit short on male ensemble last night, so there may well be a bug going around.
I will certainly see the new cast again, but hopefully with a better audience.

What do you mean? Did they think people could just sit anywhere regardless of what was on the ticket? This was about 7:25pm, a few seats off the aisle (all the ones in between taken). The person in the seat just wouldn't respond at all, then eventually made a show of her phone being turned off, then turned it on and decided to move. Never said a word the whole time. I believe her real seat was at the back of the Stalls. Of course, there were no ushers about to help. All this going on while the stage was filling up for the pre-show. I then spotted the same woman moving into another random seat at the front right before the start. So, I think it was probably someone who tried to self-upgrade too early and thought there was no chance a single person would have booked a prime seat, but who knows?
