Friend has just messaged me to ask if I knew if Keala Settle is due to appear at all performances. I said I didn't know but thought I'd ask on here in case anyone knows.

I would assume so, it's not an overly demanding role.

Caught this again last night to see this cast again before some of them leave. Had an upper circle ticket but that was closed so I was upgraded to the royal circle (exciting for me, sad for ticket sales). The sound quality was surprisingly poor for a show that's been open more than long enough to have ironed out any kinks. I've never sat in the royal circle at the Shaftesbury before so maybe it's just like that there, but if so then anyone paying more to sit there than in the upper circle is being ripped off. There were also a few instances where mics weren't turned on in time for people to audibly deliver lines, so I'm wondering if a sound techie was having a bad day, or the job was being covered by someone less familiar with it. I'm always very happy to catch understudies, but I did find myself really missing Cassidy. When she's on, Anne feels like the heart of the show, but that didn't quite feel like the case yesterday. But not overly disappointed with the cast I did see!

Apologies if I missed but is Miriam still in the show for a while?

Just watched the cast perform on Comic Relief. Despite loving the show in the theatre that performance sounded pretty bad and don't think it sold the show very well at all.

No longer cross about never seeing Miriam when I’ve been. Tom Francis fits right in though.

Is Cassidy still out? Anyone know when she's due back?

Sounds like they didn't get much rest before their performance, which may explain why the vocals weren't as strong as they could've been. Also, MT sets never really work out of context - I still enjoyed it though, and enjoyed seeing Tom as Romeo. He's got a very strong rock voice which suits It's My Life, but interested to see how he takes on some of Romeo's other, more-poppy songs. First impressions are his Romeo won't be as camp as Jordan's (or Alex's) Romeo.

A really great night. Everyone was on top form. I was worried the fans enthusiasm was going to more annoying than endearing. The enthusiasm was actually great and added to the night and wasn’t disruptive.
Standing ovations for - Teenage Dream - It’s My Life - Problem - That’s the Way It Is (which great as the most of cheers were for the cast members leaving and she should get a standing ovation every night - Everybody - Da Bois Band - Shape of My Heart (well partial standing ovation) - Roar
The presentation at the end was really nice. Oliver did a bit of a speech and then each leaving cast member got called to go forward and got the applause and a rose given to them by one the cast members that is staying.
I did also get to experience first hand the toxicity and in fighting amongst the Jordan Luke Gage fans! I was in the first few rows where a lot of them were seated. They were bitching about one particular member of the fandom. There was mention of cease and desist and who would get a Jordan Luke Gage poster hung up outside the theatre!
Cut to the interval where said member ended up in a shouting match with someone. Ushers removed the both from the theatre. The former ended up coming back (in tears) with the usher and was seated back in her seat. Not sure what happened to the other girl.

Jordan has obsessive fangirls? They do know they're barking up the wrong tree, right?
Looks like a fab night from all the Insta posts. Hope it continues to do well with the new cast.

Actually I always find it very amusing when thirsty fans are "into" certain performers who could never return their feelings (sexuality, being in a happy relationship, etc). It becomes a little sad though when these are adult fans who live vicariously through their "guy". And can slip into creepy territory easily.
One actor I knew at Phantom many, many years ago was gay and very private about his relationship, and ended up with a small team of female superfans, many of which were discussing the best way to seduce him at the stage door, what gifts they'd given him recently etc. Initially he found it very sweet, later he became very uncomfortable and invited his long term boyfriend to meet him at the stage door after shows, hoping they'd get the hint.
They did, and swiftly moved on to the next one.

One of the theatre companies I follow on Instagram has some pretty dedicated fans and occasionally their posts will show up in my feed. Lots of stage door selfies with gushing captions about their “friends” in the cast. I get wanting a picture or autograph, I don’t get how they can act like doing that makes them your friend. Ultimately you’re just pestering someone as they’re trying to leave work and they’re kind enough to give you the time of day. And doing that now, having been repeatedly told not to because of covid is just wrong.
But anyway, back to & Juliet… Feels like an eternity since I saw it in Manchester. Tempted to see it again to see what Tom Francis will be like as Romeo, but the fact Melanie LaBarrie’s also left is putting me off.

I thought she was great when I saw the show pre-pandemic. Keala Settle is a fantastic actress with a great voice. I have seen her several times on Broadway and am looking forward to seeing her as the nurse in &Juliet when I am in London next month.

What’s the policy on filming curtain call at &Juliet? Pretty sure it’s allowed, I’ve done it both times and many fans seem to!

I think Ivan is now getting a regular scheduled show as Lance.
They have a disclaimer on ticket page about it from 29th March. They’ve only previously done that for Juliet.
That would make sense as I was confused by Alex Tranter saying we’d see more of him as Lance given he was/is still only second cover. He will get to on as Lance whenever Ivan is absent from him usual scheduled Lance show.

Ivan is getting every Monday from 4th April as Lance, he’s now the alternate. Alex is anticipating this means he will go on more often.

Just in the interval.
Big cheers for the first introduction of the new principals. Lance and Angelique played more comedic/slapstick.
Tom Francis has Romeo was really great. Works much better in the theatre than the Comic Relief performance.
I can’t wait to see Zara as Juliet. I never saw her in Six but it clear she has tons of charisma.
