It’s been announced Melanie La Bertie will be in the Broadway cast. Looks like none of the other leads are transferring over.

I’m seeing the show this Saturday and 2 friends can’t make it anymore. Has anyone ever tried to ask for an exchange for another date at Shaftesbury or is this non refundable?

Tickets are now on sale until 25 March 2023 plus a Broadway run possibly by the end of the year.

I love the show but I am surprised to see the long extension - ticket sales have been sluggish even with Keala.

Yes that long extension is a bit worrying, I love this show.

Not sure when the building works are complete but that might come into it too. Would all shows be content being so hidden away in the hoardings? and there must be disruptions due to it to.

I went along tonight to see Zara Macintosh and Collette Guitart on for Juliet and Anne respectively (just in case anyone doesn’t follow Six, the two of them were alternates together for the past few years). You can tell they are good friends in real life and the scenes between Juliet and April/Anne were wonderfully done as a result. Zara has a fantastic pop voice and so the score suits her so well, she sounded awesome. She really went for all the comedy in the script as well and was so funny, I was so so impressed. This is probably only her 10th or so performance as well I’d guess so I was doubly impressed. I hope she has a bright career ahead of her. Collette was also brilliant, I took a bit of time to get used to her in the role because I’m so used to Cassidy’s legendary performance, but she really made it her own. Her rendition of “That’s The Way It Is” was so emotional that it nearly had me in tears. She reads very young next to Oliver as Shakespeare, especially with the line about Anne being 26 when she met 18 year old William, but with a show like this it’s easy to just suspend your disbelief, especially when the performance is so good. Collette is another one to watch out for in the future. I was also obviously excited to see Keala Settle before she leaves, who didn’t disappoint. The role of the Nurse doesn’t get many of the big songs (Keala could have been an awesome Anne to be honest) but with a voice like Keala’s, it’s a thrill to hear her sing anything. She does a cockney accent rather than Melanie’s Caribbean one. I wondered how they’d do it, a Caribbean accent definitely would have been a bit problematic! Keala was a lot of fun in the role and is just as great as Mel was. Carl Man was on as Romeo, another great performance. He sounded a bit underpowered in It’s My Life but then all his vocals in Act II were perfect. He plays it much less camp than Jordan did but it still works. I can imagine he was a really good Fiyero when he was covering in Wicked as well. The rest of the cast are all strong, Alex Thomas-Smith particularly is doing some lovely work with May. I can imagine it must be a very emotional experience playing the role being non-binary themselves.
The show is in great shape basically and I think the second cast have brought new energy to the show. It wasn’t very well sold though which is a shame, I don’t know how long it has left to be honest. Would be very sad to see it go.

How long is Miriam scheduled to be in the show?

I always imagine them having to drag Miriam out of the building kicking and Screaming. I actually can't imagine someone else playing the part as it feels she's made it her own and she's iconic in it. I'm glad the alternates have free reign to change Juliet into their own version of her for this reason and I would still love to see the alternates for this reason)

I went yesterday afternoon just to see Zara McIntosh as I loved her in Six and I didn't like Miriam's performance one bit when I saw the show for the first time, far too over the top for me. Liked Zara a lot better who was a sweeter and younger Juliet I could feel far more for. Also loved Keala Settle and just about everyone. Cassidy did the matinee, I wish I could have seen Collette as well. A bit disappointed that Tom Francis was off as I loved him in the Rent stream from Manchester and would have loved to see him live, but Carl Man was good indeed. Still a very enjoyable show and I hope it will be able to run a while longer.

Until I finally got around to seeing "& Juliet" on Thursday evening, I had been calling the show "Ampersand Juliet" as I hadn't spotted the space after the symbol and had assumed it was a nod to a URL parameter name for today's geeky youngsters.
This, and the fact that there many of the same people who raved about Hamilton (which I loathed) were also raving about Juliet, meant the show was off my to-do list. Then, I noticed that fans of What's New Pussycat -- one of the best shows of 2021 -- were making comparisons, and that got my attention.
Thursday night's cast would appear to have been the same as Friday's mentioned above, with the exception of Cassidy Janson being on as Anne Hathaway. That was good, because together with Oliver Tompsett as husband Will, they held the show together and injected much humour.
The jukebox song choices were a mixed bag, ranging from get-up-and-dance crackers to a couple of r'n'b horrors. A few of the cast augmented their singing style with overblown melisma, which detracted from my enjoyment.
The sound engineer did not fully compensate for actors with less powerful voices, so these were often drowned out by the music.
The story was nicely irreverential fun; the music, dance, staging and lighting were exciting for the most part.
It scrapes into four stars.
Act 1: 19:34-20:44 Act 2: 21:05-22:10
(Yet again, a theatre that cannot publish an accurate run-time. Quite where their 2:30 comes from, I have no idea. In fact, I was surprised the interval did not last longer given the paucity of bars and toilets at the Shaftesbury.)

Looks like Miriam and Tom were performing on the roof terrace at John Lewis on Oxford Street to promote the show today.

Went to today’s matinee - my first visit since October. Show is in brilliant shape, all cast members old and new put so much energy into it. Aaron Shales and Suki Wong particular standouts in the ensemble. Alex Tranter was on for Shakespeare and was great. I loved Keala as Nurse, and seeing her was my main reason to make a return visit today - she did not disappoint. Stalls about 2/3 full, audience were fairly muted until the end where everyone was up dancing. My American friends who I went with loved it - they think it’ll go down well when it gets to New York.

It's such a shame it's not getting filled, it's a brilliant show. If see it again in July but we are seeing Moulin Rouge and I don't want to see two juke box musicals in the same day :/

I was at the sing-a-long last night. Amazing atmosphere and crowd. Oliver Tompsett, as ever, was on top form and clearly loving it.
