Ivan as Will didn't seem to fit for me. He reminded me very much of Dominic Littlewood off of Rip Off Britain and all of those consumer shows. He was serviceable at best, vocals all over the place.

His voice isn't right for Shakespeare for me - Shakespeare's songs are too high for him. I'd get why Ivan is first cover as he's probably more age appropriate, but I think Alex (2nd cover) is a better fit for the role than Ivan.

God I wouldn’t compare my worst enemy to that Dominic Littlewood. Making a packet out of bbc shows where he goes round spying on people who leave their rubbish in the wrong place and standing behind the jobsworths who give people fines in the street. Horrific.

THAT’S why he was checking tickets at the beginning!!! I thought it was odd, especially when he started ranting about Viagogo and StubHub and holding the government to account. T’would appear that they DO have emergency swings at ‘& Juliet’ 😂

I was also at the show last Saturday afternoon, first time seeing it after becoming obsessed with the cast album during lockdown. Personally I love seeing understudies, so I was actually really excited when I walked in to see the cast board showing the four covers on for the leads.
I thought Grace was excellent as Juliet. I liked her in Six, but she is on completely another level in this show. I liked how she played Juliet as sweet, bubbly and innocent compared to Miriam's more sassy and defensive portrayal from listening to the album, it made the character appear more vulnerable. And her vocals... wow. She's seriously improved since Six and I think she has a long and healthy career in theatre ahead of her.
I wasn't too sure about how Kirstie was playing it at first as Anne, then TTWII happened in act 2 and that completely changed my opinion as her. Brilliant voice and stage presence. I personally liked Ivan as Will, thought he and Kirstie worked really well together.
Really enjoyed Alex Tranter as Romeo, lots of cheers for him when he first came down at the end of act 1.
Alex Thomas-Smith was excellent in Rent back in summer, and they were equally as amazing here. I'm Not a Girl... Not Yet a Woman was a showstopping moment, and as a non-binary person it really means a lot to me seeing representation both on stage in both actors and characters.
Melanie La Barrie completely stole the show in every scene she was in, with all the comic timing, one-liners and facial expressions. Completely to be expected as she was fab in Wicked.
Would definitely go back!

I also hadn't ever been to the Shaftesbury prior to this. It really is a maze, isn't it? I was in the royal circle and finding the toilets, bar and even the exit took a lot of effort.

pre- covid time i wanted see this musical but as far i remember i was in London week/ 2 week before it started run .. Now this still on my list! and i wonder ticket in ticket rush for it looks like for Six musical aka zero chances to catch it. better to buy cheaper now at Grand C matinee shows (looking at the April musicals and overprice they are i look at you mouline ro or don't tempting me ) and these are interesting for me and tickets are affordable. Also anyone try "catch" ticket in daily seat one?

If you’re in London at midday they do day seats at the box office and they’re always good seats.

I notice a lot of people have tweeted them saying the same thing so I'm guessing it's a glitch, but no sign of a fix or announcement from them yet.

Nevermind, just saw his insta post that he is no longer covering Romeo. Carl Man will become 1st cover Romeo.

That looks like a great ensemble. I will miss the original ensemble. Interesting that so many of them have left in comparison to the principal cast.
Benjamin Terry will be a swing and 1st cover May
Aaron Shales will be a swing and 2nd cover May.

Thought she would be. I'm guessing Collette will be a cover Anne, and Cassy a cover Nurse.

Really brilliant news for Tom, especially after only having done his debut recently! I can see him being a great Romeo.

Saw this for a second time last night and my goodness was it a blast. This show is just pure fun and I really can’t fault it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but it really does pack a punch. Miriam is just wonderful as Juliet. I’m a fan. Cassidy as Anne is pure comedy perfection and her vocals are just fantastic. She really stole the show again for me. We had understudies for William, Angelique and Francois. They were all very good but especially the actor who was on for Francois. His voice was like butter. Jordan as Romeo is fantastic too. I missed him my first viewing but caught him last night. I love how camp he made Romeo. Overall the atmosphere was electric last night. The audience were eating the show up and the ensemble looked like they were having the most fun. I took two friends who don’t usually see musicals and they couldn’t stop raving about how fun of a night they had. They both said it was a brilliant show and they even started to question why more people didn’t know about the show. I really hope this show is starting to find its audience and has a healthy run on the west end. It’s the sort of show people need right now.

Saw this twice again last week, once planned and once to see Alex as Romeo. Had Ivan as Shakespeare and having now seen Alex in a cover role, I think the upcoming arrangement of Alex being 1st cover Shakespeare and Ivan 2nd will work better. Alex is more suited vocally to the part than Ivan (who tried his best, but Can't Stop The Feeling is out of his range - he ends up shouting parts, and barely audible in the higher notes), as well as age wise - Shakespeare is supposed to be nearly a decade younger than Anne (which is mentioned in the show).
I will certainly miss all of the cast who are leaving, the majority of whom have been with the show since Manchester. They've helped the show become what it has, which is a fantastic, feel good night full of great pop music and a highly entertaining book. It sold very well at both shows I saw last week, so am hopeful it has found an audience. It does seem to be getting popular with school groups, I saw a few at the 2 shows I saw.

Jessica Vosk was at the show tonight. Anyone else think she’d make a wonderful Anne Hathaway on Broadway? Especially singing ‘That’s the way it is’

Wonder how the sub stage managed to get flooded? I assume it's a burst water main.

They didn't open the building till 2.20 this afternoon and show didn't start till 2.45 due to 'technical difficulties' so it's evidently been a difficult day at the Shaftesbury.
Thought Grace was a cracking Juliet though - heaps better than MTL - nice to have a Juliet who can get to the end of the show and still have a voice... Jocasta heaps of fun as Anne (mad to think she's only had a few shows at this!) and David and Mel still steal the whole show as the brilliant double act.
Top level closed but for a Friday matinee in March I don't think that's anything to be worried about
