With the not very cleverly disguised video that JerseyBoysUK have posted on Facebook, I am so looking forward to the Tour - I just hope that the inflated ticket prices particularly at ATG venues won’t put people off booking. It really will be a great show with the four leads ‘suggested’ 😀

Saw the show in Sunderland on Tues. Great show as usual despite a few sound problems. I think we had the understudy on for Frankie but there was no announcement! Standout performances for me were Simon Bailey who was excellent as Tommy and Declan Egan as Bob Gaudio who also gave a great performance. Although whoever played Frankie was good it felt a little under whelming for me. Have seen better perfomances, my all time favourite being Tim Driesen. One of my favourite shows and would definitely seen again. Here at Sunderland for 2 weeks and selling very well.

Went to the matinee today. We had James Gibbs on as Frankie, only realised as I saw an A4 piece of paper stuck up in one of the bars. Companies should really do more for their understudies.
I've seen this show once before and really enjoyed it. Today it was OK but not much more. I wouldn't be in any hurry to book again.
The songs were great of course, it's just the rest of it. Simon Bailey was the real stand out for me and the ensemble girls were great in their many roles but the overall performance just lacked that special something.
The audience were also pretty hideous which didn't help. People talking loudly throughout with no thought at all for people around them and constant checking of mobile phones. At once point (and one point alone, they annoyed the phone checkers the rest of the time) a front of house staff leaped over shining a torch across us and started having a debate with someone about whether they were taking a photo or not. The usher said yes, the audience member said no. That's all well and good but the usher was stood in front of us blocking our view of the stage when all this was going on. Far more distracting than someone taking a quick photo.

You'll have seen Dayle Hodge who is the alternate, and who is actually my second favourite Frankie behind Michael Watson who is the lead on this tour. I agree that Simon is a standout on this tour - he is the best Tommy I've seen.

Is this tour a replica production?

Is this tour a replica production? Replica of what? It’s the same show as that which closed in London in March a year ago - almost to the day 😮

I agree with the comments about Simon Bailey. He is by far the best performer in the current tour. I thought the second half of the show wasn’t as good since he wasn’t in it as much as the first half! The big 3 songs at the end of act one were great.

Caught the tour in Sunderland last night - must say this cast is excellent! Dylan Hodge was a very good Frankie, he had a lovely pure falsetto and terrific facial expressions! Declan Egan was a gorgeous Bobby too. Simon and Nick are hilarious.
I agree with the poster above about the sound issues, at times the balance wasn't quite right and some voices stuck out more than others (very noticeable during the 'big three' and Dawn). Jersey Boys is one of my favourite shows and I love going back to see it every time it tours but it felt a little flat last night, like something was missing. The audience weren't very responsive though, plus I was surrounded by talkers, sweet packet rustlers and out-of-tune singers! Very badly behaved overall, which was a shame.

Nice to see Jon Boydon (and others) as the Jersey Boys on Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

Be fair here, the tour isn't exactly Wicked or Miss Saigon, the London production is easy to replicate and should be done easily.

I was sitting in row O to the side and the sound was terrible, I moved forward in the 2nd half due to the sound and audience behaviour issues, when not under the circle the sound significantly improved, so put this down to the acoustics being awful.

I saw it in Sunderland.
To be honest I try and avoid shows like this at Sunderland and Newcastle on Friday night and Saturday as the audiences are usually atrocious.
Shows like The Bodyguard, Thriller Live were completely ruined by the audience (yes these shows weren't the best regardless but when you have drunks arguing and singing and standing up and shouting at ushers throughout then you're never going to have a good evening, whatever you are seeing).
I expect The Band audiences to be similarly hideous the next two weeks.

Tonight's performance in Glasgow had to get stopped during act 1 due to 2 women fighting! The security had to drag them out from the row

What has theatre become?
The days of bouncers in auditoriums can't be far away.

What has theatre become? The days of bouncers in auditoriums can't be far away. Not for all shows but Jukebox musicals yes. I have experienced similar behavior at Mamma Mia & The Bodyguard. Both arguments started because one party was singing through the show and the other party asked them to stop.

This apparently happened a decent amount on Broadway in the beginning and in Las Vegas (for obvious reasons).

Definitely becoming necessary at Friday evening and Saturday shows The theatre it is currently in has security/bouncers at all shows, I just assumed that was standard nowadays. Are they not as common in England ? Or London more precisely ?

The vast majority of theatres nationwide will have some form of security presence nowadays. I think it's still rare to have security personnel based permanently inside the auditorium, though general security staff usually found at the front doors will go to the auditorium to deal with any arising situations.

The Kings Theatre in Glasgow, the theatre it is playing in at the moment, has 2 permanent security staff on the door but there are extra security brought in depending on the show/day of the week, up to as many as 5 extra.
To get back on topic, Dayle Hodge was excellent as Frankie this week. I managed to see the 2 Frankie's and much preferred Dayle in the role, he has flawless vocals. I still think the actor playing Nick Massi should be the tallest to make it more realistic to the original group, Declan Egan (Bob Gaudio) is huge! But to most others it wont be a problem, I'm just being picky.

Oops well I stand corrected 😂 Every time I've seen the show, the Nick Massi has been the tall one so I just assumed that was the case in real life.
