No agree with that, it is a shame, but it has had quite a decent run - remember this musical and production nearly went back to Broadway.
Just had a brainstorm and noticed that The Illusionists finishes up at the Noel Coward on the 27th August, the venue hasn't mentioned a further show, then looking at the Chichester Festival website and see that Half A Sixpence finishes on the 03rd September, Cameron Mackintosh is heavily involved in this reviaval and owns the mentioned theatre, could in be a coincidence?
Well we find out after press night.

Hate to be a 'Debbie Downer', but I went to Titanic yesterday (which I LOVED btw) and met a few of the actors after the show. I asked Claire Machin (Alice Beane) if the rumours were true and she said no. Such a shame, the show really deserves to last longer! A case of crossed wires I suspect. Wouldn't be surprised if Danielle Taranto is looking for a West End house for a different production of hers and someone misinterpreted that. As I understand it, the Charing Cross run is as close Titanic is intended to get to the West End. Grey Gardens has been looking for a transfer since it closed at Southwark.

If Waitress was to transfer, I think the Aldwych would be the most likely venue?
What other venues will probably or have been confirmed to be empty next year??

Just reading the Richmond and Brighton brochures and nearly everything there is Direct to the West End!! These shows are apparently all coming here next year: •Stepping Out •A Room with a View •After Miss Julie •Present Laughter •Relatively Speaking
Not too mention all the other rumoured musicals transferring to London next year - I don't think there's enough theatres to fit all these! From those, I think Stepping Out has best chance of a transfer due to its stellar cast! Maybe it will go to the Haymarket in the New Year?

So is After Miss Julie touring again next year? I'd be surprised if Relatively Speaking transfers as it was only in the West End the other year.

This is not rumoured but I would like a musical Called 'Ruthless' to come to London. There is a production of it off Broadway and it just looks fun and listen to some of the songs on YouTube.

Lets not forget that Happy Days The Musical was forever being sold as bound for the west end.

Unlikely, I know, but I would love Grey Gardens to transfer to the Phoenix now

I'm still waiting on that 'Gigi' transfer from Broadway . . . .

Unlikely, I know, but I would love Grey Gardens to transfer to the Phoenix now It would do terrible business, selling out a 1000 seater West End theatre at West End prices isn't the same as a 200 seat fringe theatre selling out. Urinetown comes out of misguided transfers

Unlikely, I know, but I would love Grey Gardens to transfer to the Phoenix now I think that's looking for a small venue if it transfers. Phoenix is way too big for an intimate show like that

Phoenix is way too big for an intimate show like that Definitely agree! For me it's more of a case of I would just like to see it, but, yes, realistically for the producers the Phoenix wouldn't work, and also for the audience, thinking about, the intimicacy which makes the show works would be slightly lost.

Thought I'd share a conversation between me and Danielle Brooks at The Colour Purple stage door about a London transfer (word for word, I have a good memory)... ME: Any chance of a London transfer? DANIELLE: That's where the show originally was, honey! ME: Sorry, I meant the West End. DANIELLE: Yep, that's where it was... nope, sorry, my mistake, it went to the Chocolate Factory. Well if it does come to London I don't think I'd be coming, but I'm sure they'll assemble a great cast! She then went on to say she's coming to London to see Dreamgirls, which she was very excited to see!

But if it is Half a Sixpence as Mark Shenton has suggested (?) then it has the recent hype/ reviews from Chichester, plus Cameron Mackintosh, to help push sales. Unless there are second thoughts over transferring it.

Funny one isn't it 'Half a Sixpence'? I'm sure that the man on the street might recognise the name but couldn't tell you any songs from it. I'm sure that'll be enough to squeeze six months out of it.

Wouldn't they need to publicise it first before it transfers? If they are certain of a transfer then they should just announce it and put tickets on sale

They need to get rid of that offensive gay campy photographer if Half a Sixpence is to come into the West End!!

The trail seems to have gone cold on this, if it was to transfer they would have surely announced it by now.
Looks like we are going to have the Phoenix, Noel Coward and Trafalgar Studio empty soon.
Brexit reaction? Thanks Boris, you knobhead!!!

Judging by this though we can except at least one transfer. Unless I'm reading too much into it.

Three theatres being empty isn't news. The Savoy, Prince Edward and Palace were dark for a while between shows doesn't mean the West End is in crisis. I assume announcements will come in due course.
