There's been so many rumoured transfers to the West End recently. I'm so interested to hear what you think should or will transfer to London soon.
I would love to see The Color Purple transfer to London as I just finished reading the book and loved it! Also Legally Blonde for a UK tour would be amazing

It would be great if Grey Gardens opens in the West End. I missed it at Southwark. I recall those being rumored some time ago: -Hedwig and the Angry Inch -The King & I (there's a website, isn't there?) -The Visit (producers said as much towards the end of its short Broadway run)
Fingers crossed..

Oh, and I'd love "Long Day's Journey" with Lesley Manville to open in the West End.

I don't see Color Purple coming back. Is that even rumored or is this a wish? Color Purple does not hit the same resonance in the UK as it does in the US, so I don't see them necessarily transferring this.

I heard Grey Gardens was aiming for October, but if appears to have gone quiet. The King & I has apparently had its rights pulled so would appear to be happening. It was one of very few shows not running in the UK that was mentioned in the Olivier brochure / programme (which I recall Memphis also doing a year before it came over). A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder was rumoured for a while, but also seems to have gone quiet.

Sarah L would be astonishing in the role. Since Betty Blue Eyes, I have been waiting for her to return to the stage in a musical.

I saw Next To Normal and thought it was one of the most astonishing pieces of theatre I've ever experienced! I've never sobbed like I did watching what Diane goes through! I've always said if this show went straight into the westend I think it would struggle, but if the national or donmar did it to create a bit of buzz and interest and then transferred to a westend theatre I think it would be great!! Inspired choice of Sarah L especially after her gripping performance on TV recently and her own personal experience with mental illness!

I'd love to see an intimate version of Next to Normal... like a Southwark Playhouse, or the Donmar Warehouse.

I also have heard that Gary Barlow's "The Girls" is rumoured to transfer Baz said.
I dont know what this show would be like but I think it could be good. They need some big names for it though

I wouldn't be surprised if The Girls comes into the West End this Autumn. I think somewhere like the Phoenix would work well.

Just wondering- was Light in the Piazza ever rumored to come to London? The concert last night was a harder ticket than Hamilton, and there is something about it- the combination of that classical sounding score and a European setting- that could potentially do really well in London, I think.
Also, unrelated, I know Lippa's "Wild Party" was staged at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival several years ago- was that ever rumored to come to London?

Next to Normal hasn't been performed in the UK yet because someone has the UK rights and is not releasing them.
There was a planned production for Edinburgh Fringe a couple of years ago that got cancelled because they could not get the rights.
It's a huge shame, an absolutely brilliant show.

who owns the rights? and don't the writers have the right to withdraw the rights if the current right holder not use the license to actually mount the show? How does it work anyways, do they "rent" the show to keep the rights? What's the point of withdrawing it?
