I have to admit that I don't particularly Cairo about Jason Donovan (I think he's got all the stage presence of a dish mop) but I don't de-Nile that I'm interested in who they will put in a loincloth cast as Joseph.

Great memories of directing an amateur version of this show over twenty years ago and being so delighted that the Really Useful group waived some of the licence fees as we were giving proceeds to charity.Along with panto it is a great first introduction to theatre for young people.I wish it well and with star casting it will sell well.

Jason has said on Facebook today that the rest of the cast is being announced very soon! So far is a very white cast playing non white characters. Hope there is some diversity when they announce the rest of the cast. |

A very white cast based on two announcements? Oh please. I'm sure there will be plenty of technicolor when the rest of the cast is announced. Please stop trying to pre-empt a non-debate by lobbing the diversity grenade into the ring. Personally, I'd love to see a cast of colour - it would be perfect in my view, but there's nothing to stop anybody (of colour) mobilising themself to make the populist bandwagon a rolling reality.

With more pressure than ever to cast BAME actors in every show, I’m sure it will have been a very important variable in the casting process. They could’ve approached someone like Beverley Knight or another awesome woman of colour for the Narrator (who knows, they may have done initially), but I don’t think diversity will be an issue when the full cast gets announced.

I wasn't aware that the narrator was a biblical character. Well I certainly didn't hear talk of one when I went to Sunday school.
So fail to see how this should be a non white character.
