Roxie is it already confirmed that she’s missing tomorrow as well? From Twitter, it looks like she’s hoping to be back for the 5.00pm show tomorrow and will miss the earlier one.

First show today is only just over an hour away. Haven’t seen any word from Linzi on Twitter - anyone know if she’s on or not?

Can’t say I’m looking forward to it without Linzi though.

I’m assuming Linzi is still hoping to do the 5pm show, I don’t blame her for not wanting to sing the score twice in the space of 4 hours after being down with a cold!

So I messaged Linzi to check she was on tonight before I booked and she isn’t. She’s devastated so please be kind to her on Twitter. (Not saying u won’t be but some ppl are being unkind and heaping guilt on her which isn’t fair)

Saw it in 2019, and it’s not a patch on the original Palladium version. Had no intention of seeing it this year until Linzi was announced.

I was only really going for Linzi as well, saw the show with Alexandra last month and didn’t really think this production and the comedy angle worked without Sheridan. A big shame but can’t be helped, wishing Linzi all the best.

I wouldn’t say anything to her directly. It must be awful to feel like you’ve let people down. Of course she hasn’t, it can’t be helped. Cant help feeling extremely disappointed though.

This is a bit of a departure from talking about this production specifically, however, what is it that draws people to this show? I was too young to see the original but from what I have seen and heard; the Donny Osmond recording, many clips of this production online, listened to the soundtrack - this show is not anything to write home about. What is it that people like about this show? Is it just purely the nostalgia? In my opinion, the music is God awful and the story is just nothing. It really does feel like a show that just be performed in churches or primary schools, which it was only ever supposed to be as I understand it. But I am always willing to have my mind changed if someone can convince me. So, please feel free to share - what is it that you like about Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat?

Was my first show back at full capacity on "Joseph Day" and nostalgia had a lot to do with it - but also I just think the show doesn't take itself too seriously and is a lot of fun. I'll disagree with you on the music because I think it's great, and the Narrator is such a great part for anyone to play.

Initially in the 90’s we went because my mate had a sneaky crush on JD. His girlfriend at the time wasn’t aware, but i)is now & ii)is no longer his girlfriend. Linzi was the most impressive aspect back then too. Discovered the cheap standing tix with different friends and went to JD’s last night, with my wife to be waiting for us outside one of those Argyll St pubs so it has significance there too.

Original Palladium production was my first show also. I’d never experienced a musical before, and the feeling was overwhelming. I first saw it starring Phillip Schofield, and had followed his rehearsal progress on Going Live!, which gave it a special feeling to finally see live. That production was just so perfectly staged. It took the material to a level it had never reached before. Every element was perfect. The staging was classy, impressive, and very funny. Icing on the cake was an outstanding performance from Linzi Hateley. I remember saying on the way out of the theatre “when are we going again?”. It was just so professional, so enjoyable, so perfect. I think magic was captured. I’ve seen the touring Kenwright version of Joseph and it was pure agony. Couldn’t wait to get out of the theatre. The current Palladium production is much better than that, but hasn’t captured the same magic as the original for me. The set has lost the humour and fun. The music has been rearranged and isn’t as good. I was really looking forward to seeing one aspect return… Linzi as Narrator. Sadly that’s not happening.

Thank you for your responses. I love hearing about why and how people find connections with shows. It does nostalgia is strong with this show, which is certainly no bad thing. Just want to be sure I am not crazy for not liking it haha. I will say though, the megamix is a banger even though I'm not a fan of shows that end with a megamix.

Not warming to the understudy at all I’m afraid. Had been considering a last minute purchase for Wednesday matinee if Linzi is back, but have changed my mind. I can’t sit through this inferior production again. And I don’t think I want to see Linzi rubbing herself all over Joseph as Mrs Potiphar. Think I’d rather keep my memory of her playing the classy role of the Narrator, not this end-of-the pier version. Best to relive the memory I have in my mind, than try to recreate that memory on stage

I was at the 1pm today. Actually quite a few empty seats which I thought was surprising for a bank holiday weekend matinee.
Rochelle was fine. Was still a bit disappointed the key is altered even for her and the whole thing is sooooooo sloooowwww Jacob and Sons dragged.
Audience was flat, until the Megamix, but compared to the last time I went a month or so ago, it felt a bit….awkward?
Agree the Mrs P / Joseph section is awful whichever narrator did it. And made even worse by a kid playing Mr P.
Massive praise really in this production to the brothers and female ensemble who sell it every time they are on stage.

Also, great job by ushers and management at the palladium today. A lady in the front row filmed the whole show on her phone. Whilst they attempted to stop her during act two, at the end right in front of me they accosted her (not physically) and told her cast members had reported it as was seen from the stage and wanted her to delete it off her phone in front of them.
