It’ll all come out eventually. If it’s not Covid related, It’s sad that after the 18 months we’ve all had that it’s come to this . I would imagine that it is covid related, given she specifically mentioned she tested negative. Maybe her partner or someone she lives with currently has covid, so the producers would rather not have her perform given the high risk of her getting it, despite a current negative test. I can't see it being anything underhand. There are only a couple of weeks left of the run - Alexandra has had good reviews, has a good fan base, and appears to be a good fit for the show. So I'm not sure what benefit there would be for the producers to swap her out at the last minute.

I know it's much more dramatic to have a scenario which involves backstage intrigue and warring divas - but in this case it's nothing to do with the producer preferring one narrator over the other (and they are both supportive of each other - even though they've never shared a stage).
The tweets may seem odd - but I suspect she's only posting that she can't do today's performances because she earlier said that she was going to do them.

So: I think the most recent team of children that Alexandra did the show with may have a positive Covid case, and the producers are just being ultra careful looking after her given the nature of the Narrator’s role.

Not sure on that because they said yesterday it wasn’t to do with covid. A relation of Alexandra’s put on Twitter it has nothing to do with covid. Maybe she’s injured or something? Is she on today?

I certainly hope Linzi is on for the 5pm show today as it’s one of her scheduled shows.

She isn’t injured. In the deleted tweet which she posted saturday (I wish I’d screencapped it now) she said she is fit and testing negative so she had no explanation for why she wasn’t allowed to go on.

Linzi has said on Twitter that she is on for the 5pm show today. Must be Alexandra or understudy for afternoon performance, despite what was said yesterday. All a bit of a mess really.

It’s Rochelle Sherona (understudy) for this afternoon, she posted on her Instagram story last night. She was excellent at her debut on Thursday night.

So Alex is probably unvaccinated, or 1/2 vaxxed and someone tested positve, so she can’t be in the venue. They’re the new rules, no?

Whatever's going on, I hope the producer has good company management in place to look after some fragile feelings. Joseph's last run ended on a sour note, with accusations and upset in both directions re. Sheridan Smith. It's always even more of a shame when that occurs around a show that is projecting warmth. Maybe in a few days it will have faded away as an issue.

There was some suggestion that Sheridan Smith had lost her temper with the kids on occasions, I think she refuted; or just said it had taken a lot to for her to see out her contract. Who knows the truth of it, with differing stances, but it seemed a sad way to end the run.

Saw the show this evening as my first trip back to theatre after almost a year and a half. Have been really looking forward to seeing Linzi (we booked for today especially) and she certainly didn’t disappoint. Huge round of applause upon her entrance and on various other occasions throughout. Entire audience were on their feet for the whole megamix. Unfortunately, didn’t get the high octave on the “bits” in Act 1 or Act 2, but didn’t really matter. Was waiting for it though Jac was excellent as were the ensemble and could understand some of what Jason was saying for the three minutes he’s on stage. I, personally, really enjoy this production. We saw it two years ago and saw it on one of the few days where Vanessa (can’t remember her surname) understudied as the narrator - she was excellent. Dr John with his orchestra, alongside the re-orchestrated material, is fabulous. I wish they’d record this version so it’s not lost. It really does sound great. Atmosphere was absolutely incredible this evening and really enjoyed it. Really nice return to theatre for me.

Gosh I had a lot of fun at 5pm today.
I had no intention of returning to this show, but then Linzi decided she was gonna reprise a role she last did before I was born - so I had to! £20 cheap seat in the upper circle (F4 - absolute steal for this if someone's wanting a cheap deal).
I enjoyed the show in 2019 because it was bonkers and wild and Sheridan chewed the scenery for breakfast. I liked it even MORE today, and that's because of Linzi. What Sheridan lacked was the voice, and what I thought Linzi might lack was the comedy. But Linzi has them both. It's a different edge of comedy (a bit more nudge and wink rather than Sheridan's 'its still me!') and it works a lot better. On top of that she's belting her head off 30 years on. Pharoahs Story was AMAZING! I actually welled up about 3 seconds in - the moment Linzi turned round and the audience ERRUPTED. The look on her face was just glorious - she is having the time of her life. Jac is really stellar still and will be a big star in years to come. Can't wait to see what he does next. Jason is inaudible and terrible but the Great British Public ate it for dinner. Oh, and the public's failure to clap in time at all never fails to make me laugh!
4 stars from me, but I don't think I ever want to see Joseph again...I've seen the ultimate narrator now. Unless they completely flip it again and get someone huge who can do the comedy AND the voice I just don't think I need to see it again.
Oh, final side note - John Rigby conducting the Megamix and dancing along with all the ensemble choreography is PROPERLY funny

I saw the 5pm show yesterday and after over a year and a half of not seeing any West End shows, it honestly felt great to be back!
But on to the show, Linzi was astounding throughout. As other posters have commented, the audience roared when she first appreard at the start and I booked that day sepcifically to see her and I was not disappointed! She just STOLE the show, nailing both the singing and the comedy! Everytime she was onstage the energy lifted!
Jac Yarrow was a very charming and likable Joseph and his singing was nice as well. Not much else to say, except that I hope his career keeps going strong.
Whilst Jason's performance and energy was there, his vocals were defintely the weakest out of the bunch. He was still a crack to watch, but compared to the others you could tell his voice was a bit scratchier. I was however amused and take a back a bit when during 'Song of the King', Jason was getting back up on his feet and as he was he uttered "Oh Jesus!". On one hand, it was very funny, but on the other hand there were kids in the audience. My mum, who I took to see with me, could relate to Jason's agony though!
I wasn't a big fan of the way both 'Jacob and Sons' and 'Joseph's Coat' sounded, maninly because I felt they were a bit too slowed down compared to the quickness of the original soundtrack. But apart from that, everything else sounded faboulous.
But the best part of all of this was not just the music, the performers, or the show itself. It was just the feeling of being back in a theatre, with a packed audience who supported all the actors onstage and just that environment that has been sorely missed by many for too long. I won't lie, I almost got a little emotional during the finale. Probably because I was so overwhelmed with the realisation that, after such a turbulent time for the industry, me and thousands of performers, technicians, musicians and audiences can now experience the feeling of a live performance in a West End theatre.
Apologies for getting overly sentimental just now, just had to get that out of the way.

If anyone is in any doubt about the popularity of Linzi Hateley have a look at seat availability for Linzi's last performance on Sat 4th September matinee and then look at the evening performance. Say no more!
