Hi all I don’t post often but read all the time. I think there is a good chance it will go to a lesser known boy bander, but also discovered on X-Factor. Jaymi Hensley from Union J would fit that brief very well and he has been seen! Will try and post more generally in the forum more often. Have a good day. I was thinking Jaymi actually. Especially as he's worked with Michael Harrison on panto before.

That may be the link and would make sense. Not my ideal choice but he would sound nice singing it.

Joseph at the Palladium with Philip Schofield was the first show I ever saw so would love to see this again. Although at those prices I’m holding out for some casting news before forking over the cash! Echo the support for Rob Houchen...would be booking super fast if that was the case, but think others are right and unfortunately to the general public he isn’t well known enough

I know, CHF as the narrator and her boyfriend Oliver Omstead (I think that is his name) as Joseph. The Hopefuls would eat it up.

I’ve just watched the film for the first time (and story for that matter) as it’s now on Netflix. It was... interesting to say the least! How faithful is the stage version to that? It was pretty bonkers, and the mix of musical styles is very odd.

From What I remember (and it’s been a good few years since I dusted down my dvd and played it) it’s pretty accurate to the 1991 version, with Jacob and most of the ensemble being the same.

A few ensemble members carried over from the Palladium to the video, but don’t remember Richard Attenborough playing the role in the West End

Indeed is a different cast, almost entirely. It is based on the Palladium version though for some reason for me, never really caught it's essence - was a rather flat version of something I found epic live.
(Quite unlike the Cats DVD of the same era which I thought was a great adaptation).

I did say it had been some time since I watched it!

Was Shaun Henson in there? He was pretty ubiquitous in the 90’s. Him & Sebastian Torkia were in everything!!!

I thought the Cats DVD was very well done, but Joseph I found weird (and didn't care much for the casting). Yes, it was based on the 1991 Palladium production, but it didn't translate well to film.

Glad it wasn't just me! Guess main difference was Cats was filmed in the Adelphi theatre on the (expanded) actual UK tour set (and lighting). Joseph was done in film studios with a sort of film set based on the theatre set and just wasn't quite right. They should have just filmed the actual stage version IMO. Btw what's happened to the Elton John produced film version that's always almost getting made? Assume it's shelved again!

OMG criticism of Donny Osmond is sacrilege. The film was supposed to be an animated version.

It’s gonna be Zayn...called it her first 🤪 I hope if they are going for a pop star will be an A lister. Was never a One Direction fan but nobody could deny they were huge. Olly Murs was being mooted at a party I was at a couple of weeks ago - hope they are wrong, I just find him so cheesy. Names that have been suggested by people allegedly in the know so far: Liam Payne Joe Sugg Olly Murs Zayn Malik Did I miss anyone? (Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised and will be a great musical theatre actor but I doubt it. It would suit someone like Rob Houchen, Jamie Muscato, George Ure, Richard Fleeshman etc - or indeed someone new straight from MT school) Anyway, I guess a stunt casted Joseph I could possibly cope with. I would REALLY like the narrator to be an MT star though who can belt out Pharaoh Story to #goosebumps proportions.

Not to be read before having morning coffee, pinch of Salt and some dry humour...
(Im sure this will go down Well) but asking for a friend😉
Following on from the “controversial” EVITA talks.
Depending on whether your religious or atheist or just worship rob houchen, maybe cast someone historically and racially accurately appropriate for the role. Middle Eastern, black, ASIAN basically anyone but WHITE!..oops Should be able to sing in hebrew! Who can belt (low a to high g).
BAME opportunities, still not a level playing field! Now watch all in denial white privileged people, freak out!
Would love to see zac effron do it though...💅🏾

Are the producers maybe struggling to find someone? It opens in June and you would think they would want to get money in the bank beforehand. I'm sure there are plenty of people, me included, who are holding off booking until we know who we are getting for our money.

Could this become this year's Chess? High prices, higher anticipation about the cast, lots of rumours and then a "meh" announcement?
