Interesting. Wonder if they've done some revisions as the US version didn't really work very well. Sometimes Lapine needs to let someone else direct his work for it all to make sense.

Selladoor co-producing. Interesting choice given the that Arcola hardly has a space to allow easy transfer to touring etc. Certainly got my interest though.

Hmm. It didn't exactly meet an ecstatic reception from critics in the first two productions, and friends who saw it were underwhelmed...
...and 'Something Better Better Happen' is a really good song, and I love most of William Finn's work. Looking forward to seeing it.

UK tour to follow London run, visiting Ipswich, Salford, York, Brighton. Bradford, Woking, Glasgow, Birmingham, Canterbury, Blackpool, Malvern, Leicester, Aberdeen, Exeter and Eastbourne.

Love the film (especially the cheesy judge at the kids talent contest) and the character development of Greg Kinnear as the Dad. Despite one or two minor things that don’t work for me in terms of the storyline I always feel compelled to watch it when it’s on.
I know it’s now a musical, but am not familiar with the music so this could be worth checking out.
Does anyone else see the irony of a character in a musical that doesn’t speak for 3/4 of the story?

I saw a regional production in Chicago. I don't remember anything until the last number. The show is just..fine. But nothing to write home about at all.
I just wonder, of all shows, why this? The movie was good but doesn't necessarily have a cult following to speak of, nor is it a cultural hallmark. For a UK show, it just seems to be so out of touch with what a UK audience normally goes for. That's great it's breaking the mold of the usual style of musicals that frequently tour the UK, but it still seems like such a strange choice.

I think this will be yet another mediocre production from SellADoor. The same production company behind Flashdance, Fame, Madagascar, Rock of Ages and the upcoming tours of Avenue Q and Amelie. In just the same way as Amelie, this is a smaller, lesser known show and probably easier to buy the rights to. So this will be probably just be another cheap and disappointing show, in order to make a bit of money. Who knows they might even use a click track throughout, just like they did for Madagascar and really push the boat out...

Well i liked LSOH. And actually i favoured it over the recent Open Air production....so.
I haven't seen most of the other shows but am seeing Fame this month.
