What is going on with this casting?! It starts a week later than come from away yet they announced a month ago. Really hope Olly Thompsett gets the doctor. Maybe Lauren Samuels/ Sophie Isaacs for Dawn as Sophie Linder Lee won't be available and Louise Dearman or Rebecca Trehearn for Jenna. Also wondering if it will be Old Joe or Old Josie as Broadway has recently announced. I was thinking the same but then I remembered Come From Away is opening early next month in Dublin before the Phoenix run so they needed to announce their cast a lot earlier. They’re well into rehearsals now. |

How are the ticket sales doing for this? I have a theatre group on fb with all my friends so we get group discount. Waitress is the first show where I haven’t had much interest from my friends. Will this sell to the wider public? I’m worried if people don’t know the show - they won’t....

Would Sheridan Smith be considered for this role, she is a big name and it would be a prestigious role for her to take on. Plus it's a couple of years since she was in the West End. My concern would be if she felt she needed to grind of 8 shows a week at the moment as she seems in a good place and might want to wait a bit before committing to a big role.

She was on Lorraine today and said she’s filming all next year so that would rule her out. |

Also, I love Sheridan but (and I'm very aware I've probably said this before) I can't see her in this particular role. Rupert Young rumour is an interesting one.

We will see in time if the assertion that it is talent over celebrity is true. But for now I'll take it at face value and was interested to receive that particular bit of information, as were others who liked the post. |

I don't see anything wrong with sharing the info that the offers have gone out. Personally i encourage people to share any info they know, as far as they can. It makes things interesting. I don't enourage people to make stuff up, but if people do genuinely know something, even if they can't go into detail, persona;;u i like to hear it.

Like most MT purists am not a massive fan of stunt casting - I do think this entity, in this sized theatre, kinda needs it to get bums on seats though.
Initial sales look rubbish (based on the seating plans - I do appreciate that's not the whole story).

The issue with making unverified comments such as 'offers have gone out' is that it's often the case that not all offers can be made at the same time and there may be many actors waiting to hear so a comment like this can be quite hurtful and knock people's confidence. It also can make the casting director's life a lot more difficult with agents calling asking why their client hasn't heard etc. when there may be a v logical reason that these haven't happened. I'm not really sure what telling people offers have gone out adds to the conversation- it doesn't benefit us people on here to know that and any casting that is confirmed will be confidential until the producers release it anyway so leaking information is also unhelpful to the productions... Just my opinion. |

This is me to a T! I saw it on Broadway in the summer, just before the announcement of the London production. I wish I hadn't - I thought everyone in the cast was average to poor (especially Katherine McPhee so that fills me with joy if she is playing Jenna) and I didn't really care about any of the characters. It's quite a nice score, but apart from that I don't think this is going to do particularly well here. |

That being said, there is a conversation about someone initially playing the role of Jenna for a while just while it opens and then a really great performer taking over.

Hmm, am I reading too much into this or is the implication of "someone will play the part initially and THEN a really great performer is taking over" that said initial someone is not a really great performer?
