I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. Will Wicked embark on another UK/Ireland tour, and if you believe it will, how soon do you think we could expect it?

I would think so, although I haven't heard anything and don't know anything about it. I would think it will certainly tour again if you wanted an opinion, within the next year or two.

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. Will Wicked embark on another UK/Ireland tour, and if you believe it will, how soon do you think we could expect it? The set exists in storage somewhere so you'd assume so. If I was to hazard a guess they'll start advertising end of this year for a tour end of 2023/early 2024

“I’d highly recommend reading Unnaturally Green by Felicia Ricci, it’s her account of being an Elphaba standby. It goes into great detail about the casting and rehearsal process and then what it’s like to actually be a standby and be called up in the middle of a performance. “ I’m halfway through this book and its a really entertaining read. It (not deliberately) highlights the fact that not all actors take themselves or their job too seriously. It is just that; a job. Finished this book today, and it is clear that, for the singer, Elphaba is an absolutely massive task. Felicia details everything she had to do to keep herself onstage (or not) and it seems quite mammoth. Whilst she acknowledges that the sporadic nature of her performance schedule (standby) did not help build up the required stamina for when she had to do 4 shows in 2 days, she did eventually manage it the second time it came calling.

Charli Baptie is leaving the cast today. Have they announced the new standby Glinda? I missed that.

It’s Lisa-Anne Wood back from maternity leave, Charli was always supposed to be just a temporary replacement

It's sad to see Charli go. I saw her twice on tour and she really was an amazing Glinda.
When Wicked tours again I would be very happy to see Charli return in some capacity!

Saw this for the 5th time on Friday with Lucie and Charli. A mixed bag overall! I thought Lucie and Charli both sang the role beautifully, but Lucie’s acting was a little lacking in places. The ensemble gave a really uneven performance as well, parts of it felt very going through the motions and other times they really popped, sometimes both of these things in one song! The first half of One Short Day felt so flat, but once those ridiculous clown things came out, the cast really sparkled.
It’s been about 7 years since I’ve seen the show and my biggest takeaway was that the show is tired now, and would really benefit from going away for a while and coming back with an all new production. The second act has large, painfully dull sections. It’s also lacking in good songs, the whole second half hangs around No Good Deed and For Good and everything before, in between and after then just isn’t that enjoyable.
Mad to think this used to be my favourite show, I think largely cause it’s the first one I took myself to see, and now it wouldn’t even bother my top 10.

Does it drag in the second half? I mean No Good Deed is a highlight and it's ok, I think, if you've seen something enough times to want to forward to the good bits but it's hardly a problem with the show, necessarily.
You've got Wonderful which, granted, is "The Song That No-one Likes" from that comedy sketch but it or something like it needs to be there narratively. As Long As You're Mine is slow but can still absolutely sparkle if the performers have chemistry. (And if they don't that's kinda a different problem). Then you're into No Good Deed pretty much and the train is on the home stretch into the station.
Idk, I totally get a 15 year old show is never going to be quite as exciting as when it's breaking but what first time audiences that go still love it. Drop out for a refresh, maybe, it doesn't need to chase Les Mis. I'm just not convinced it needs a reWORK

I think the show needs a some sort of overhaul especially production wise. The UK tour felt so fresh in comparison to what I saw last month in London.

I still adore Wicked - I think I always will. My main issue is that Circa 2010-2016ish you could go and every single show was different. Every lead and understudy brought something new to the role and had their own little quirks and vocal runs etc. Now every Elphaba and Glinda and carbon copies of each other and no matter who you see I find you get the same "off the page" performance.
I think it needs a new resident director that lets people have a little freedom tbh.

The venue too. How has the sound not been fixed? It's terrible.

From seeing Laura's last show to seeing one of Lucie's first few you can just tell they are directed heavily to say lines the same way, to do the same facial expressions, to play the character the way the management wants you to rather than your own interpretation. some more freedom and creativity would be nice.

It has been the same since Idina left. When Kerry Ellis was put in, it was redirected properly - there were small changes. It wasn't a "like for like" replacement, it was treated as new, he flew in to do it. From what I gather he has been a handful of times since! It has been essentially the same show ever since Ellis (I've seen most of the casts, as I still like the show). I've been saying for ages, it wants shutting for a few weeks, a world class cast put in, the original director to come in, and fix the bloomin' sound problems. Mind you I've been saying this for about 6-7 years.

Edit: Lisa-Anne Wood will also be on as Glinda for both shows today, not just the evening performance.
