My one and only time I've seen Wicked was back with Alexia was Elphie (though we actually had Ashleigh Gray, who I believe was Standby, so I'm guessing around 2009 I saw it?) I have some friends who have never seen the show, and have an opinion that they won't like it, so I would like to prove them wrong by taking them to it! As I think the show is wonderful when its all together, and thats where its shines! Any tips for a Wicked ticket newbie, would be wanting 4 tickets, decent seats that don't cost me the moon. Also any do's/don'ts like where to avoid in the auditorium

I’d recommend TodayTix Daily Dozen which opens at 10am every day with seats sold for £29.50. It’s easier than some of the other lotteries around and it means you can avoid the hassle of dayseating.

I'm so happy with the new ensemble as well and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this doesn't wear off and isn't just the excitement in the first few weeks that keeps them going... Same opinion on Alistair though I feel like with a bit more time he could get somewhere?! It's hard to take on a role opposite two leads that are Nikki and Helen who already know what they're doing. And on Nikki, she definitely is keeping is safe now that she's in the West End, she went back to very much score (as opposed to the tour). However I feel like that's a smart choice given she has to do 8 shows a week now and her holidays aren't coming for quite a while... If I was the musical director of Wicked I think I’d be hated by the fans - Nikki playing it safe and singing to score is music to my ears. I think I may return to see the show again sooner than anticipated now. Imo she has this powerful voice that works perfectly without the added stuff to it. and it's nice to hear those long notes sung as long notes, somehow showed me again what a masterpiece the score is...

Also any do's/don'ts like where to avoid in the auditorium Get up early and do the day seat line - 2 of you can buy four seats in the front row at £29.50 each. Otherwise, restricted view side stalls are OK in advance. There isn't much rake in the front stalls, so you may as well go cheaper. The dress circle's sound is never brilliant, but the view from the rear section isn't terrible. The rear stalls do beat it, though. If you have kids you will need booster cushions back there, though. Plenty on my site about it all. Thanks TheatreMonkey! That's great advise!

Has anyone else noticed how bad the audience etiquette is at wicked. someone in the row infant was always on their phone sneaking photos. Then someone fell asleep in my row, and it gets better: he started snoring. Quite funny! Wanting to book my next trip in September and there £22 very side stalls and the view looks okayish from the side of row K. But the sound might be dodge lo. Ha anyone sat in these very Side bits?

Left hand side? Didn’t notice any sound issues but you do miss pretty much a whole scene when the #spoilernotaspoiler house falls on East. Great value if you’ve seen it before.

Yeh the side with the steps! Yes I know what you mean I sat in that front centre section in the stalls and the rake was really bad and they weren't staggered which I found odd

Does anyone know how the student tickets work at wicked? What’s the age bracket? No age limit, you just have to show a valid student ID card. The website says they may not do the student tickets at peak times but in reality they’ll usually offer you something unless they’re on track to sell out that performance - I’ve only been turned down once in my visits over the last 5 years.

Sorry for another seat question: To get 2 tickets on the rush I get offered row J of the Circle in the central block. Will these be okay do you think? Will the sound be okay?

I doubt it. At the end of the last tour they were proclaiming it as the final engagement in whatever city it was in.

@auditionpianist just posted this on twitter and I’m now in a youTube loop of all of Chris Jago’s drum booth videos from the Wicked US Tour. There’s more action here than is on stage half the time. Apologies if this is old, old footage for many of you but it’s new to me and I could watch it over and over..

For some reason it always seems to be the drummers and guitarists that upload video of their performance, maybe it's being isolated in that little booth. I'd love to see some of the orchestra or the keyboardists. Anyway as we're sharing, Moni Del Valle of the Mexico production has some drum cam and JC Lozano also of the Mexico production has some guitar cam, which is also pretty involved when you see it, and has a gorgeous bit of embellishment on the run up to the climax of defying gravity

I find these videos really thrilling, especially the drum/percussion part which mostly sounds bugger all like what you hear of the whole, only occasionally picking up ‘the tune’. The orchestrations are so dense and are a thing of beauty.

Laura Pick was on today and she is my favourite Elphaba now! She is absolutely insane. Her defying gravity gave me so many goosebumps and her no good need was very strong. She has a really strong belt and her acting is perfect. There was an Elphaba switch last night so I thought I would have Laura and I was buzzing when I found out that she was on. We got a standby slip which was nice. Carl was on as Fiyero and I think I fitted the role more then the other guy Cos he seemed really old lol. I don’t really know vocally how they compared though. I was sat in Row Z 7 and it was a brill seat! The seats are raked and staggered in this section so I could see the whole stage and the sound was perfect with vocals loud enough and I heard orchestrations that I don’t normally hear which was fun. Got this seat for £37 as part of the kids week. So I was surrounded by kids with packets of sweets and parents whispering to their children what was going on. It was a bit annoying but I found it cute that this might be their first theatre experience and they seemed to enjoy it. A great trip today

Managed to get last min tickets for last nights performance. It was only my second time seeing the show, the first being back in 2010. I think the show is still looking and sounding great! I thought Nikki Bentley and Helen Woolf were both fabulous, I did feel they both took time to get into the roles, but vocally both were great. I think that people know the show inside and out now, so it still surprises me that performers can still find ways to make things funny for 'their' Elphie/Glinda. We didn't enjoy Alistair at all, I don't know if its just not a role that suits him, but I thought he didn't sound vocally great, and he just looked awkward and uncomfortable. The rest of the cast and the ensemble I thought were great, standout for us was Kim Ismay as Madame Morrible, we thought she was fabulous, the role can be done very shouty/caricature, but actually we felt that she had really film villainous quality to her, that bubbles away until shes allowed to burst forth and reveal her true intentions. I can see why this show is still running, it is such a recognisable subject matter, and it still really does bring the magic and wonder of Oz to the stage! I think I won't be waiting so long next time to make my next visit
