Who cares what colour you are. When we had Alexia it was a disaster so let’s cast the right people for the role. Um, did you read what you wrote before you posted that? I happened to really like Alexia, and she certainly wasn't a disaster...

The biggest disaster. Proves that colour doesn’t matter.

Yes she was that much of a disaster that she was asked back...

Easy casting.
Look at the current cast.

No, that definitely isn’t the case, Rachel Tucker had at least 3, Willemijn (I’m told) had one, Jenny had one, and most recently Emma Hatton had one on the 2015/16 cast’s press night as it made it into most of the reviews! I’ve missed you and your incredible knowledge, Martello.x I’ve missed you too ❤️

There’s 36 cast members. 32 of them are white. I make that about 89% white. The UK is about 87% white. So Wicked's casting is actually matching the UK demographic reasonably well. To play the devils advocate, only about 60% of the London population are caucasian. I don't feel like shows should be cast as per the statistical makeup of the population they serve, but the ethnic diversity of London (and some other cities) is different than the UK as a whole. It's a complicated subject though, and one I don't feel informed about enough to have a very strong opinion on.

Define "disaster". I really liked her.
Alexia remains one of my favourite Elphabas and I've seen a good fair few in the West End and on Broadway!
Haven't seen the show in years and years, wanted to catch Alice but never got around to it. Sounds like the new cast has given the show a bit of a refresh? Another visit might be needed.

Alexia was my first Elphaba in the first musical and West End show I had ever seen. I was blown away at the time, so much so that I would say that performance changed my life by getting me hooked on theatre. She's no longer in my top Elphabas but I would never say she was a disaster. The only slightly tricky thing about her was that she had so much time off, but then Ashleigh Gray is my joint favourite Elphaba so that was often a bonus for me!

Just grabbed a row G seat for £29! Via todaytix. That app is a saviour!! I haven’t seen the show in a few years now and I saw it last on tour so this is my first wicked London show. Very excited! Has anyone got any options of the sound design in the Apollo because I really love it when shows really push the sound up! ( cough JCS) and I get annoyed if it’s too quiet lol, does anyone think the same or is it just me aphaha.

I think this is the first time I've ever posted in this thread! I've never seen this, but yesterday spent £340 for 4 tickets - central stalls Row E - for next February for us and the kids. Reading about that Todaytix price, I now worry I've made a bit of a pricey boo boo! Anyway, hope the show is worth that and has heart and isn't just a well put together cash cow. I know it must be special to sustain nearly 700 pages on here!

Thanks @theatremonkey. I'm actually really looking forward to finally seeing it. It's been on my list for years! And yes it is during half term so I have probably done very well. The seats immediately behind were £200 each!

Interval thoughts: Helen is a sensation. Ensemble are the best we’ve had for years, absolutely on FIRE. Nikki must’ve made a great standby, she is super safe and inoffensive - not enough for me personally but she’s a super safe choice for them. Alastair is very underwhelming, super wooden and keeps singing in an American accent? Visit number 60 for me tonight so a bit of a milestone..god I feel old!

Oh no... not the American accent.
Ben Freeman doing it in preparation for the "Happy Days" tour still gives me nightmares.
His Glinda, Gina Beck, seemed to quite like it though 😉

The seats immediately behind were £200 each! You will have an amazing view in the middle of row E. If you can afford it then why not treat yourself to a lovely, unobstructed view?! Please post your thoughts on here after your visit.

Will do, shady23. It'll be the first time my kids visit London so I thought I'd push the boat out! I remember my parents bringing me to London for the first time when I was about 12 and seeing Phantom of the Opera with Crawford and Brightman. It was magical!

I was sat row G and there was a huge head in front of me because of the non existent rake! Also people infront of me fell asleep and left in the interval 😂😂😂😂. So no heads in the way for act two! Yes I do agree act one is quite fluffy as theatre monkey said and act two is brilliant! It is very cinematic and the production value is HUGE! Spectacular sets and costumes. It’s like a tourist attraction inside the Apollo Victoria, felt like I was little again seeing phantom lol! Really love the show but I might need another viewing to fall head over heals in the fandom, did this happen to anyone else? Needed a few times to fall in love ?

I'm so happy with the new ensemble as well and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this doesn't wear off and isn't just the excitement in the first few weeks that keeps them going... Same opinion on Alistair though I feel like with a bit more time he could get somewhere?! It's hard to take on a role opposite two leads that are Nikki and Helen who already know what they're doing. And on Nikki, she definitely is keeping is safe now that she's in the West End, she went back to very much score (as opposed to the tour). However I feel like that's a smart choice given she has to do 8 shows a week now and her holidays aren't coming for quite a while...

If I was the musical director of Wicked I think I’d be hated by the fans - Nikki playing it safe and singing to score is music to my ears. I think I may return to see the show again sooner than anticipated now.
