At cast changes does the audience tend to cheer and applaud when the Elphaba first runs on stage in Dear Old Shiz

At cast changes does the audience tend to cheer and applaud when the Elphaba first runs on stage in Dear Old Shiz Yes I did that once at a fairly quiet Wednesday matinee thinking everyone would. I was the only one. So awkward😂😂 (was quite a sedate cheer luckily).

While I admire the commitment it really is not safe and should be strongly discouraged.

Some people have ALREADY started the dayseat queue. I feel like Wicked fans make everything way too difficult for themselves. There is no need to camp out for 12 hours.

Did they not just do the evening show, come out, "stage door" and then just start the q?
I'm sure cast members love nothing more than meeting people tonight then before the matinee tomorrow, then after the matinee and then after the evening show.

Whatever floats their boat...so long as they have a nice day and don’t spoil anybody elses what’s the harm?

Whatever floats their boat...so long as they have a nice day and don’t spoil anybody elses what’s the harm? Surely there comes a point where unhealthy obsessive behaviour should be actively discouraged?

Surely there comes a point where unhealthy obsessive behaviour should be actively discouraged? Agreed, had friends who were obsessed a few years ago, and it was very creepy and strange. They admit it now, but back then they found it all completely normal. It’s really just a fight to be the No. 1 fan and prove this through behaviours/actions.

The people I was talking about went straight from another show to the Wicked queue with no break.

You'll never beat the first time Rachel Tucker left when you had people camping for a whole week and seeing every show that week as well as permanently hanging around stage door all week.
I love the woman but doesn't there come a time when you say "I've met her ten times this week already I don't really need to meet her for an eleventh time"?
I'm so socially awkward with anyone I like at stage door anyway and never know what to say so I can't imagine ever doing this.

I will be stage dooring tonight to say my goodbyes but I’ve only been to see this cast once and it was 6 months ago, so I hope it won’t be too awkward on much part.

While I admire the commitment it really is not safe and should be strongly discouraged. The Wicked news twitter (which i believe is a quite popular account with the Wicked fan community?) was tweeting out trying to discourage people as it's not safe. A girl replied that there were a few of them in the queue. I don't know why anyone would camp out, but then again I've only queued for dayseats a handful of times.

Surely there comes a point where unhealthy obsessive behaviour should be actively discouraged? Not to mention the complete lack of regard to personal hygiene. Spending a day in London, then sat in a hot theatre at night, camping out overnight outside, into a theatre in the afternoon, out, then back in again. Don't want to even imagine the pong going on there. That's not something a couple of wipes in the bog could sort out.

I imagine she's received a thousand tweets asking if she is going to the stage door, hence this response.

But who are we to criticise them, especially if some of our number are going to stage door later? I might take the p!ss quite a lot, but if these kids/grown-ups want to camp to queue for day seats it’s up to the theatre to discourage it and the police to move them on. Not for us to sneer at people enjoying themselves; especially not after #cheerupcharlie. I think it’s a bit of a double standard for a board to champion inclusivity and equality, then slate people for this. I know they aren’t related but positive messages matter.

I'm not saying don't encourage enthusiasm. I just feel that encouraging young people to sleep rough in London is not a particularly positive idea in of itself. And as someone with a compromised immune system, I personally wouldn't want to be sat in a hot theatre next to a group of people who had sat on the street all night and 'slept' where rats run about and not showered. I hardly think holding a negative viewpoint towards overnight camping at theatres is promoting exclusivity or inequality.

I think it’s a bit of a double standard for a board to champion inclusivity and equality, then slate people for this. I know they aren’t related but positive messages matter. I see no reason to be positive about something that I think is fundamentally wrong. I find it extremely alarming that anyone would encourage, condone or tolerate that type of behaviour - it isn't healthy, and someone needs to tell them they are obsessive and need help. There's a huge difference between being a fan of a show and going to see it multiple times and being so obsessed you camp out multiple times and effectively stalk the performers either at the stage door, online or both. It isn't sneering (in fact I find it rather offensive that you have characterised it in that way when no one here has done anything of the sort), it's a genuine concern that unacceptable behaviour is being left unchallenged and people are being allowed to develop unhealthy compulsions that impact on the lives of the cast members who are just trying to do their jobs, as well as on their own personal safety. It's unnecessary and I see no need to apologise for disagreeing with it. And it has nothing to do with inclusivity or equality, in fact it's the opposite - these obsessive fans are taking up a lot of affordable tickets that could go to others who want to see the show on a budget but have more sense than to camp!
