Is Rachel Tucker worth seeing? I saw the show on Broadway a couple of years ago but last saw it in London with Alexia Khadime in 2009. Very poor performance on the whole, hence why I've stayed away for seven years. I keep hearing people raving about Rachel though, so just wondering if it's worth dusting off the Wicked socks and making a return trip. Rachel wasn't my favourite Elphaba (that position will always be reserved for Nikki Davis-Jones) however you should absolutely go and see her. Her voice is sensational, probably the most powerful of all the Elphabas that I've seen at least, and what she's achieved over her six years with the show is pretty darn good.

I view her differently to most on here, the one time I saw her I left feeling very underwhelmed as did my family who had all seen the show previously. Her voice was beautiful and clear but it just felt lacking to me and I place her as my second lowest Elphaba above Emma. However, it could have just been an off matinee for her and I would always say if you're tempted then give it a go. You'll get to see a brand new Glinda even if you don't enjoy Rachel which I'm sure you will!

See Rachel, she just is the Ultimate Elphaba in my eye. To (slightly mis-)quote George Orwell: But some are even more ultimate.

Rachel is fantastic but everyone has such high expectations of her return I am not sure she can even begin to match them.
I am really looking forward to the new cast and tour cast. I have been a bit hmm about Wicked of late but find myself with ten shows booked! Whoops...
I like the current lot but wouldn't rush to see them again. They're not my idea of how the role should be. They are great but we all fave different tastes and long may that be the case.

Here tonight and I'm so impressed!
Emma and Savannah are like completely different actresses to my last visit, Emma just blew the roof off and Savannah has the audience lapping up her Glinda!
Kerry Enright is a fantastic Morrible I love her!!
In fact whole ensemble are on fine form!

I can't wait for the next cast to join, I feel it will revitalize a dying fan base, Emma and Savannah have long outstayed their welcome at this stage.

Welsh_tenor you are possibly the only one from your nation not glued to the football tonight!
What makes tonight's performance different to normal? Would be interested to hear your views.

Completely disagree, the fan base is anything but dying. Whoever is cast in the two lead roles at Wicked will attract and develop their own own hardcore of (super) fans. That's been the way since day one and it is not going to change now!

Welsh_tenor you are possibly the only one from your nation not glued to the football tonight! What makes tonight's performance different to normal? Would be interested to hear your views. Well what can I say... Great night out and the show was top notch! There wasn't one specific thing I could point to but everything just flowed and I remembered why I love the show so much! I don't know if it was the audience, the cast or both, but very much a buzzy vibe all evening. When the map was lifted in the very beginning revealing the ensemble on stage the audience clapped and cheered - almost like a cast change night! Other great applauses including when Morrible gets taken away by the guards at the end - in my 18 shows I don't ever remember the crowd cheering when that happened! Ensemble were on it all show, couple of swings on which is always a fun game to play spotting who is on/off.... First time seeing Mark Curry and really enjoyed his Wizard. The little touches in the part such as the leg kick in Wonderful were all there which so many Wizards I've seen skip over, really good interactions particularly with Emma. Kerry Enright was brilliant as Morrible and I realised in Thank Goodness that it's because she actually sings! Yes you don't need to be a strong singer for Morrible, but it had so much more meaning with all the lines being sung instead of spoken. And Kerry was menacing... Loved her! Highlight of the night! Oliver Saville - such a brilliant Fiyero and quite possibly my favourite seeing him again. He plays the strong dark & handsome well with a hefty amount of shallowness thrown in and such a lovely voice! (And the jodhpurs....) I've been quite critical of the witches after previous shows and nearly even left at the interval last time, but they were brilliant - if that was my first time seeing them tonight then I wouldn't have stayed away so long! Whether they're back on it now they know they're leaving or just rested from recent holidays I don't know, but something just clicked for me watching them. I love Savannah and tonight her comedy was on point, the audience me included laughed a lot! Emma nailed every vocal, powerful and controlled and is so at ease in the role compared to last time I saw her in January. Tonight was my 3rd time seeing her and definitely her best by far! All in all a great night out - except the tourists.... We were in the stalls and lot of tourists around us - at least 15 came in late during the first classroom scene (WTF!) and some didn't come back after the interval...... Theatre having a big refit, new gents toilets and new downstairs bars and looking very swankified as we head to 10th anniversary!

I feel I phrased it wrong by saying a dying fan base perhaps, but certainly the fan base isn't nearly as active or excited as it was with every other cast since I began following Wicked, maybe I have just been fortunate to witness great, unusually high energies from fans since joining the fandom but recently I haven't felt it. I am glad you enjoyed Welsh Tenor

Rachel is fabulous - honestly, she looks a little old for the role now, but she sings it fantastically. And she's still on top form even after so many years - I saw her on Broadway a few months ago and it was a completely different performance to when she was in London in terms of the nuances and highlights she chose, so she's still clearly loving the role and reinventing it. Plus no-one can sing No Good Deed like she can.

Who do you guys think will replace Rachel when she leaves? I'm hoping for Jemma Rix to be reunited with Suzie Mathers

Once she starts, January will be there before you know it.

Yes she is leaving in January. Yes she hasn't joined yet.
Talk of promoting the standby is also very premature as she hasn't sung a note yet either.
Although I did find it amusing when Steven covered in the last London cast after his Tour duties, and Wicked London put out a press release saying he was one of the ones leaving at cast change, before he had actually joined.

I think its valid to talk of the mini cast change in January. Its really no different to the usual speculation on here that builds from 6 to 8 months before normal cast changes

I merely made a passing reply that it could be the s/b, new in now at cast change and wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility....
I'm not getting ahead though, never seen The Tucker so can't wait to do so!!
