We have no reference on this guys singing then? Has he done any? Doing some research on him and he's had some TV success in america and seems a good comedy actor.

Ooh I didn't know that Dewey had an alternate - why's that then? Is it a particularly demanding role?

Ah Gary is the alternate! I totally misheard at Beautiful then. Didn't think it would have been him. Some great names in there, not sure about Florence, wasn't amazing when I saw her in Miss Atomic Bomb. Couldn't imagine her singing that!

Alex Brightman informally had an alternate for much of his run, and they didn't make it public until recently. (Will Blum does all three matinees.) |

I really like the New London, always found it really comfortable, the bar area is great, lovely FOH team, nice auditorium.

I do prefer the architecture of the old theatres, but as modern theatres go, especially some of the ghastly touring venues, the New London, in my opinion, is a nice change.

I've never been there (though hopefully will now for SoR), but I just think it has the most boring names in the West End! Considering recent changes of the Albery to the Noel Coward, the Comedy to the Harold Pinter, and the Ambassadors soon to be the Sondheim. Maybe this could be the Alan Bennett?...I'm not sure what the criteria has to be for a name change. I would suggest either the Mackintosh or Lloyd Webber but it would be weird considering they own a bunch of theatres.

The Harold Pinter was renamed by ATG as his plays have played an integral part of the history of that particular theatre. Thanks, Wikipedia! The Alan Bennett wouldn't be suitable as it's not a playhouse, maybe the Hal Prince Theatre? There are plenty of theatres that could do with a rename, maybe the Rattigan or Ayckbourn for the Playhouse, I wonder if they'll keep the Astoria name when they open the new theatre in 2020/21 or will Nimax name it after someone? When I visited NY years and years ago, Cats was playing at... the Winter Garden! |
