The official Guys and Dolls website still lists Samantha Spiro as Miss Adelaide which could confuse some people

I'm looking at going next Thursday and the Stalls and Dress are pretty much sold out barring the odd single seat. I presumed this was the Rebel Wilson effect but is this a one off? Haven't looked at other dates

She did look good but she wasn't really a household name to bring in crowds That's what it's all about these days, isn't it? Not talent, acting ability or being right for a part, but being a household name to bring bums on seats. And that is by no means me attacking you, George, it's just a general observation on the state of the West End. :-( |

And that is by no means me attacking you, George, it's just a general observation on the state of the West End. :-( People seem less and less willing to take risks these days (and who can blame them with the prices). There has to be some familiarity for people to want to see a show; An adaptation of a film, songs they like, celeb they know, creator/writer they know. This mainly applies to musicals but not always. |

They are fairly expensive and this might put people off. It doesn't put me off and I'll still pay top money to see a show if I want to see it but some people don't want to risk it and not enjoy it. I think this only regards to some shows though, lots of shows do well because they are a show people want to see. Regarding G&D, I think producers took a gamble by transferring it to the Phoenix from April-October and then extending the period until Jan. It was a sell out at the Savoy and maybe they should've left it at that? |

Or do the box office sell everything and the agencies adjust their allocations accordingly? I know some of the Leicester Square booths just call up the theatres to see what they have left, but I always presumed some agencies had a set allocation in the first place...might be completely wrong though! Theatremonkey (or anyone else!), can you shed some light as to whether the show might actually be sold out? |

The night I went was half-empty up in the Upper Circle, and I'd got a £10 ticket for it discounted from £25. |

Yes there is - however I just had a look at the Tuesday night and it's pretty empty, so I think perhaps it's just a lot of groups booked in. Can normally recognise the agency seats when there's a "sold" block in the middle of available seats! |

EXCEPT that they don't always get the open access as the theatre still holds some for themselves. By the look of it, next Thursday night could be a special event, as there is plenty in the upper circle, but stalls and dress are full. Thursday afternoon has seats at all prices. It's probably a media night/minor press night with invited guests now Rebel's had time to bed in a bit. |

I picked up some day seats for tonight (which was indeed a media night for Rebel) and the Box Office clerk implied it may not last after she leaves.
As an aside, I thought she was brilliant. I saw the pre-West End tour in Birmingham before Christmas, thought it was just okay. I was much more impressed tonight - the casting of Simon Lipkin along with Rebel for me was infinitely better than who I saw on tour (can't even remember their names). They had oodles of chemistry and you really would believe they were in love. Gavin Spokes stole the show with his Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat.
I enjoyed it so much I would like to see it again before it inevitably closes - an absolute bargain at Day Seat price, which I got at 11.30 without the need to queue early!

TBH it's lasted longer that it's intended to run, interesting that a play is going into the Phoenix, the last play there was Goodnight Mr Tom.

For those curious BTW, stage doored the other day after seeing the show and Siubhan said she, Oliver and Gavin were leaving on August 14th. EDIT: Just seen the show is closing early.  |

I'll be sorry if it does close early. I would have probably tried to see it again in September or October, as I'm not interested in seeing Rebel Wilson.
Has anyone heard who will be playing Sarah for the last 2 weeks of the tour, as Anna O'Byrne is finishing early? I booked months ago to see it in Woking at the end of July solely because I wanted to see her Sarah, only to discover a few weeks ago that she would have left by then. I don't want to trek all the way to Woking, which is nearly 3h away from me, without knowing who her replacement will be.
