Not a huge fan of ..... Pinter. But I would make an exception.... for David. (Beat) Tennant. I thought this looked interesting till I saw his name associated it - now I think it’s likely to be just a vehicle for some self-regarding show-off actors rather than about Pinter. Bill Bailey organised (or was associated with) something similar a few years ago wasn’t he ? |

All we know at this stage is the info contained in the replicated tweets at the top of the thread. BB's article elaborated to say there were plans to stage 20 Pinter one acts in the season.

Looks like this will be announced shortly. Dates appear to be 6th Sept - 23rd February. Two one acts per performance mostly.

Looked at his plays on Wiki and that didn’t help. What do you think will get put on? Are we looking at something like Old Times, The Lover and the Dumb Waiter?
BTW I love where a season has been given over to a playwright, it allows me to immerse myself and invest in their work, thinking The Oscar Wilde season here.

TWENTY of 'em? Well that's going to be one hell of a financial commitment for the Pinter completist (and presumably they're hoping there'll be enough of those to make this a real money-spinner)! I know I've already seen The Lover and The Collection when they were presented as a double-bill a number of years back, and I also saw a few as rehearsed readings when Jamie Lloyd was at the Trafalgar Studios but the only one of those I really remember is Victoria Station. I'll be interested to see what's included and what the schedule is like.

It looks as if some of the groupings will be as follows in this order of appearance for a few weeks at a time and with some in rep:
The Lover / The Collection;
Landscape / A Kind of Alaska;
Moonlight / Night School;
The Room / Victoria Station /Family Voices;
Party Time / Celebration;
The Dumb Waiter / A Slight Ache

I’ve seen quite a few of those. “A Kind of Alaska” is a masterpiece. I assume they’ll also be doing his later political stuff like “Mountain Language” which I found tedious in the extreme.

Moonlight is around 80 minutes, so presumably Night School isn't that long.
Also, don't get too upset about omissions just yet, since it's noted there will be 20 Pinter plays featured and the earlier post only lists thirteen.....

Will be interesting to see how this is going to be marketed.
Not a naturally popular cycle therefore ‘star’ appeal will have to be high to maintain interest.
On the other hand for a completist (are there many?) to see all the plays will be prohibitively expensive at traditional West End prices, this will be quite an investment of time and money, will likely end up seeing them all, hope they have some multi play discount scheme.

Betrayal and Old Times If I recall we’re equally short plays, don’t think more than 90 minutes long. Moonlight and The Dumb Waiter are interesting inclusions considering the Donmar staged the first on its own, and the Trafalgar Studios and Print Room have both had independent productions of the second. If they're pairing them with extremely short plays that wouldn't make much of a double-bill with anything less than an 80 minute play, I'd rather have a triple or even quadruple-bill than have to sit through a relatively long play I've already seen to get to the short play that's new to me.

If I can get tickets I'll see as many of the missing ones as they put on. Not sure there will ever be a better opportunity to do so.
