When it first came to the west end I thought it would not do well as presumed it would be a bit niche so I am glad to be proved wrong. That's great news about the extension. With regard to the film is it going to be the musical or a film based on Jamie? I would have thought that it's the musical based on how they've worded the release |

Re the film, WARP is still very much a Sheffield production company, albeit with a London satellite office, so I'm confident the project is in safe hands, and will retain it's honesty and gritty authenticity. Providing it doesn't involve pretending to be a tree, perhaps our BurlyBeaR will make an appearance as an extra! Perhaps I will!! |

Coming to London later today Saturday what are the chances of getting a deal on tickets ?? Saw some on official site upper circle but they had better seats on today tix but few pound more all £20 and £25 have gone .... some £35 left but rest are sadly out of my price range being a nurse 😟.... will I get some at tkts ? Or with trying box office any advice appreciated x I would give the box office a try if you’re not getting in too late. It does look pretty full though today, you could always give them a ring and see what they think  Hey thanks arrived at 4pm tkts had stalls £43 I came to box office must say lovely staff .... got circle row E for £25 was happy with that looks pretty full so far |

We did that last month and got nice stall seats for £25 each. From now on, if I can, I will always try the theatre box office first.

Wow 4th time seeing the show 3rd in London audience were with it from the get go ..... circle only had 3 empty seats upper circle pretty much full looked like stalls were too .. Electric atmosphere full standing ovation circle were practically up in one ..... huge cheers for each individual at the bows
Noticed the one girl was missing and no matching prom dress scene is this cut or was the girl just off tonight ?
He’s my boy was a masterclass performance ..... John /jamie is So settled now just amazing vocals on point tonight too
I liked Shobna but must admit I did miss mina early days Though she will find her groove

Hi folks: Have some questions:
I´ll have the chance to see this show, allready heard the music and I think is just simply amaizing. The story seems really moving too (readed on wikipedia, don´t mind to be spoild at all, and I don´t do Drag, but as a gay man, I really identify myself with Jaimie and his jurney)
First: I´m tempted to buy the 95 pounds tickets (first time in London after 15 years and I allready don´t know when I we´ll come back. I assume this are the Premium ones, Right? What are the diference between the 75 pounds (most expensive in regular price) and premium??? Just the locaition of the theater and thats it? By the way, I allready saw a map of the auditorium, and they seem almost the same to me in terms of locition, but could certanly be totally wrong. So, why the prices are so diferent? Legroom maybe?
Second: Anyone we´ll have differents opinions, about the next questions but: For the ones that saw it: Is really a upbeat and "good feeling" show like the critics said? Or there is a dark side in the story? I mean, something too depressive or too dramatic?. Do you consider that is very "british" (like Billy Eliot) or the story could happen everywhere and don´t seems very local???. As we´ll be there in London, well, I really want to try to see something that has a very English feeling (I´ll see Harry Potter for example).
Tthird: I´ll go with my family, they don´t speack english very well (nether do I but they speack a lot less than me). Do you think that if I explin the story to them before the show, they will enojoy it? How visual is it? I think the 95 pound ones are extreme, given how small the show and the theatre is. I've sat in the middle of the stalls (more towards the front than back) and the view was perfect. I also sat in the other side of the middle of the stalls, more towards the back, and the view was good. Taking a look at the auditorium from the stalls at least, I don't think there are seats with horrible sight lines. Having said that, a 95 pound seat is going to give you a great angle, which certainly will maximize your enjoyment. Having said that, I still think it's too steep for what the show presents visually and for the size of the theatre.
I wouldn't say it has a "dark side" but it does try to deal with issues such as bullying, homophobia, shame, and isolation. Having said that, it is a feel good musical, so these themes are explored by glazed on. It's not depressing or triggering, at least I don't think so.
It's very British I'd say. There are a lot of book scenes with dialogue, so it might be challenging, but it has enough visual performance going on, so it will compensate for non-English speakers. Having said that, it's not the first show I would recommend for a non-English speaker as it requires a bit of involvement from the audience.

Just checked my e-mail and my seat was K8 in the stalls; great view and I paid £65.
As Ali said, I don't think it's the best show for a non-English speaker. Maybe go see a show based on a movie (or one that was adapted for the big screen) that you can watch prior to your trip, like Matilda, Phantom, Dreamgirls...

Given the size of this theatre, you may definitely avoid the most expensive, premium seats and still have a very good view of the stage and overall experience. There's hardly any difference in terms of legroom... I'd definitely call this one a feel-good kind of show, where you leave the theatre in a good mood, energised and with a smile on your face. Rather than a "dark side" in the story, I would say there are - as in any story that works - hurdles that Jamie has to get over, and antagonists he has to deal with. As you certainly know, this is based on a real story and as in all real schools bullying is a thing... and not all families are perfect, we don't always have ideal relationships with our parents, etc. So you won't be smiling non-stop from start to finish, but the more serious notes and more emotional moments are the ones that'll make the smiling and good mood at the end more worthy. If your family don't speak English super well, I think it wouldn't hurt to tell them briefly what the story is about. It's easy to follow, in general, it's not nearly as dance-heavy as 42nd St, but rather about characters interactions. There are a couple of moments when someone with a lesser command of English may get a bit confused - I'm thinking of the bit where Loco Chanel shares her story with Jamie, for example. Also, as the story is set in Sheffield, actors speak with a regional accent which may not be immediately easy to follow (because they don't pronounce some words the way you, as a non native speaker, were taught in school), so some preparation will definitely help them enjoy the show even better. Hope you all enjoy it! |

I´m tempted to buy the 95 pounds tickets Really, save your cash, particularly stalls row F as you won't see the stage floor. Either take the seats beside the premium ones if you really want to sit in G to L, or just go for central M. If you are shorter than 5ft 7, row D or E in the dress circle is also worth a look. If you want single bargains with nobody in front, stalls row X6 is clear in front, dress circle E23 is 95% clear of the seat in front, dress B21 is clear for about 50% of the seat width. When I saw the show last christmas, I opted for the X6 ticket. From memory, I think I paid £20 for it for a Friday night show (i dont know if the price has gone up now, but having had a quick look on the NIMAX website, a few seats down on the same row are at the £35 price, which in my opinion is still great value). Overall, an absolute bargin for a great show. Plenty of leg room (Im not the tallest of guys!) and space to store bags and coats. There is also the added benefit that you can leave very quickly at the interval to get to the bar as well as leave at the end of the show. you can also be happy that the people in the next row will be paying around £50 for a similar view so you can save yourself alot of money! |

X6 is an AMAZING seat. The ushers offered to let me upgrade to further forward in the stalls, and were very surprised when I didn't take them up on it, but why on earth would *anyone* give up a clear 6 feet of legroom for the opportunity to sit immediately behind someone with a giant head or messy topknot?

Sooo..., first of all thank you SO MUCH to all for your help, opinions and wonderful answers!!!! We´ll buy our tickets this week (not the 95 pounds definitly) . Two or three more questions: They sell the CD AT THE THEATER? And the suvenir Bruchure? (Can´t find the second one online) Do you know how much are them by any chance? We live in Mexico, so, we prefer to buy them at the venue (avoiding the sending taxes etc) As you may allready know I had born with a phisical disabilitty, have those X6 seating a good legroom? (Can walk with a stik and go to my seat but cant stand seated in small spaces for a long period of time) Do you think that, in some way, this show have those storys that, with some parsons, could, in some way, change their mind about gay man, homophobia and that stuff or is just a fun show without a very clear mesagge? (suposse it is because the synopsis I read and your coments) but want to ask anyways to be sure, because I saw films and shows that are just about gay, lesbian, drag queens, etc. and they are fun, period. (My dad is the tipycal Mexican honmophofobic macho with a gay son I´m afraid and I´ll hope this musical could help him to be more open minded about all that theme). Thank you guys! Cedric (Cedriko) |
