Broadwayworld just published an article saying this may go to broadway
There can’t be any truth in it surely? It’s not sold particularly well here so I can’t see t doing well across the pond?

Broadwayworld just published an article saying this may go to broadway There can’t be any truth in it surely? It’s not sold particularly well here so I can’t see t doing well across the pond? It’s sold pretty well over here with audiences always above 80-85% capacity despite a pretty low key advertising campaign compared to other new shows. With regards to the Broadway World article. They’ve taken a quote about having spoken to Broadway producers and made it into an article so there’s no news there really

I would doubt it would run in New York at the minute. Its a very Brotish show that would need alot of work heading over there. I have a friend in Jersey who listened to the score and doesn't even understand half of the Cast Recording because of the British sayings and such.

It’s an interesting one - I was under the impression that it wasn’t doing well as the top tier has been closed when I went and when a friend went 🤷🏻♂️ It’s a lovely show that I thoroughly enjoyed, but it feels too British to go over to NY - similarly Made In Dagenham (which I adored no matter what anyone else says😂) is too British a show (although it would never transfer). But hey, didn’t we say that about Billy Elliot?

But hey, didn’t we say that about Billy Elliot? The only time the upper circle ever seems to be closed is on the Wednesday Matinees as far as I can tell and weekends seem to sell very well. I personally would be very surprised if it wen to Broadway. Billy Elliot had a film behind it, along with a number of big names in the form of Elton John and a huge company producing it, so Broadway was a far more feasible venture in my opinion

It's seemed fairly full the two times I've been.
One thing that stands out is it's not an easy show to get discounted tickets for.
There are no online discounts I'm aware of. TodayTix do a lottery, but the odds of winning aren't that great.
I know you can go to the theatre and they sometimes do Day Seats, and it's available through Tkts, but those are only useful if you're in the area.
I can see it working in New York in somewhere off-Broadway, like New World Stages.

I always thought they would benefit from doing a rush tickets kind of thing, or like Kinky Boots have, a system by which those that don't win the lottery are offered discounted seats instead

Upper circle has been closed on a number of evenings in the last couple of weeks (not just Wednesday matinees, in fact it looks like it is closed this evening) with upper circle ticket holders being upgraded to the lower levels. It was closed when I went one evening last week. Dynamic pricing is in full force midweek too, got a decent dress circle seat for £20 from the box office.

So do we think Jamie will close on the last known day of shows or will it extend? I personally can see it closing then touring smaller/non ATG venues (e.g. Leicester Curve, Edinburgh Festival)

I personally can see it closing then touring smaller/non ATG venues (e.g. Leicester Curve, Edinburgh Festival) I think it will extend through the new year. Nimax owns the theater and they are producing and it would be hard to start a new show in October in that theatre if they don’t announce it soon so they can start selling tickets. I hope they extend too as in my opinion, it’s the best show of the year.

Hasn't it only recently been extended? I won't expect news of extension until maybe July time?

It does look pretty full though today, you could always give them a ring and see what they think

A film too!!
I hope it’ll be good. They really should use the original cast in the film if they can. I don’t want star casting thank you - I guess maybe the Drag Queens could be ‘names.’

Fantastic to see a new British musical doing so well. Huge congratulations should go to all those involved, especially Sheffield Theatres for taking the risk in the first place!

When it first came to the west end I thought it would not do well as presumed it would be a bit niche so I am glad to be proved wrong. That's great news about the extension. With regard to the film is it going to be the musical or a film based on Jamie?
