All the A listers. For this show Oh now now P, Shobna Gulati is hardly C list either. She's probably as recognisable as Mina Anwar, if not more. I think the role will fit her like a glove actually. And I do hate it when people compare one show with another so excuse me for breaking my own rules by comparing 'Jamie' with your beloved '42nd Street' but as much as I love 'em, Lulu and Ashley Day are hardly A listers either. |

All the A listers. For this show I’d rather they didn’t cast A listers and instead cast people who were talented and going to be good at the role. Surely you don’t go and see shows and complain the ensemble are too competent and you’d rather it was made up of ex Corrie cast members half heartedly bopping along to the music looking slightly out of it? |

Go on Lucie! It Mean's Beautiful still the best song in the show for me, furthered on this recording. Her voice is just amazing, and that specific scene was the most touching scene and you feel it through this recording!  |

Hey everyone, I have a few questions and would really appreciate any insight or advice.
I'm flying in from New York and seeing this show in it's final week. I can only do a matinee and have exactly three hours after it ends until my flight from Heathrow takes off. Is this doable? I Googled and the theatre has a cloak room so I will take my suitcase and hurry immediately to the tube after the show ends. I just bought my ticket...hoping you guys don't think my plan is a totally dodgy one!
Also, will the original cast still be there? I'm going on the October 3rd matinee...I'm hoping to see the original cast. How often do understudies go on? It is one of their final performances...

You should be fine! I would double check that the theatre will be able to accommodate the size of your bag, and after the show you can go to Piccadilly Circus (3 min walk from the theatre), get the Piccadilly line from there and it'll take you straight to whichever Heathrow terminal you need! I'd say it's about an hour from there to the airport |

Some of the West End theatres have stopped allowing big suitcases to be stored so definitely one to double check Another option would be to use one of the left luggage facilities that are at most of the main train stations in London |

The original cast won't all be there as Shobna Gulati is taking over as Ray next week. Apart from that, there's always a chance of cast members being on vacation. I don't know of any other cast change announcements. I wasn't aware that Jamie had announced it was closing, so there could well be another booking period to go on sale. You could jump straight on the Piccadilly Line and be in Heathrow in about an hour, but be aware the matinee will finish right at rush hour. Think packed tubes and delays. If you can, go to Heathrow first and check your bag in early. I don't think I would risk it. Is there a later flight you could try and change to? |

We were in London last week and had most of the day to kill before getting our coach at Victoria so I called in to Victoria Palace Theatre to see if I could get day seats for the matinee. I could, but he saw my husband waiting for me (with our one large case) and politely explained we wouldn't be able to leave the case while we watched the show. It was ok because I had booked it in to a Bag BNB for just £5 for the day, so it worked out fine for us. Could you do something like that? It is quite difficult lugging a case round, especially as you will be cutting your journey very finely.

I don't want to derail the Jamie thread further but I've just taken a look at this BagBNB thing and it looks like a fabulous idea, so thank you very much for the suggestion. I may need something like this in summer when I arrive in London way before the check-in time at Travelodge and plan to catch a matinee and evening show. Travelodge is awful about luggage storage and I was already wondering what to do with my luggage. As for bananabasket - another option might be to just go to Heathrow early, store your baggage there, then go back into town to catch the show. It'll be an awful lot of time on the tube, but it should shave some off detouring to a train station to collect the luggage there. |
