The bio musical portraying singer/songwriter Carole Klein King and her partners in crime Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil and Gerry Goffin is running in London's Aldwych Theatre.

Saw this last night. 3 understudies on- the wonderful Joanne Woodward as Carol; Matthew Colthart was on as Barry for the first time and was absolutely brilliant and finally Matt Nalton was on for Gerry. If you hadn't had known they were understudies, you would never have guessed. First time I had seen the show and thought it was very slick. Might have to pop back so I can see Cassidy Janson

Might have to pop back so I can see Cassidy Janson You definitely should, she's fantastic. Preferred her even over Katie Brayben. Cassidy's American accent sounded so natural in my (non-native speaking) ears, and her Beautiful was a true highlight.

Ohmygoodness, you should have seen Vivien Carter who was on as Carole on Monday. Flawless! Did anyone else see her? She had so much heart and vulnerability too. Get her on more please.

We should have been there last night but thanks to the Piccadilly Line problems we wouldn't have got there until an hour late. Annoyed as we had front row tix at £40 each.
We are looking to rebook ...

I'm heading to London in late Feb and am a big fan of Cassidy Janson. Does she play all shows each week? Any scheduled performances she goes off?
Also does this show ever do discounts or am I safe to assume that I will need to pay full price for this one.

Except for scheduled holidays (and illness)Cassidy does all shows.
The show is offering discounts through Get Into London Theatre but only for shows until 12th February so that most likely won't be of any use for you. Several people (me included)have been able to get bargain tickets on the day simply by turning up at the box office and asking nicely. Again, possibly no use if you are coming from out of town and have to plan in advance. If you are able to take a risk asking at the box office on the day is worth a shot though. I went on a Saturday and got a nice stalls seat for 25 quid for the evening show around midday.

Still haven't seen this show. Not a fan of Jukebox Musicals but friends have told me this is a must.

The box office seems really good about discounts. I turned up at around 6pm last Monday and was offered mid stalls for £35 or front row for £30 (which I took and would highly recommend).

Has anyone seen Cassidy yet? First thing I saw her in was Dessa Rose and thought she was great.

I've seen Cassidy in the show. She was absolutely wonderful. Aside from her gorgeous voice, she brings so much warmth and heart to the part .I'd definitely recommend catching her performance before the next takeover (assuming the show runs for another year - it was virtually full a month ago when i went to see it).

Out of interest when you go to the box office on the day of the performance how do you go about trying to get a deal? My parents are seeing Beautiful tonight and noticed on the website the seat next to them is empty - just don't fancy paying full price!

All I did was ask if they had any day seats or similar available and added that I was looking for just a single ticket. They said they didn't do day seats then proceeded to tell me what they could for me. I ended up with a front stalls seat for £30.
I'm not sure asking for a specific seat will work though.

I was lucky. The guy at the box office was lovely. I just asked if the seat was still available, it was so I asked what the best he could do it for. He said £40 I cheekily said £35 and he agreed!! Loved it yet again. Cassidy took some warming too to be honest and at first I wasn't convinced especially with her younger Carol but by the end she won me over and her older Carol is much stronger. Vivienne was on as Cynthia and really liked her, think I still preferred Lorna though. Show in great shape and great response from audience. Pretty full for a Thursday night. Hope it continues to have a good run.

Beautiful has now extended through February 18, 2017. Not surprised at all, it's in the feelgood nostalgia style of what does well in the West End these days and is overall a solid and quality bit of jukebox theatre

Saw this tonight for the first time with Cassidy J. I adored Katie Braben (who I saw 4 times) but have to say I prefer CJ. Very few empty seats. Lorna Want still (almost) steals every scene she is in.

For all of the Carole King fans, she's playing a Hyde Park concert on July 3 where she'll be performing the 'Tapestry' album in full. It's her first UK show in over 25 years apparently. Tickets go on sale 9am on Friday 11th March - £65-£299.

Looked like a full house tonight which was really encouraging. I noticed for the first time tonight what a beautiful theatre the Aldwych is.
Joanna Woodward on for Carole and she was brilliant! Really played on the naivety of the early scenes. Lots of gasps from the audience as they recognised each song, which I thought was sweet.
Enjoyed it much more the second time. It's such a slick production with a great score, it's hard not to enjoy!

Wonder whether Katie B of Cassidy J might join Carole King onstage at Hyde Park?

There's a screen on the right of the box office which shows from time to time this performance's cast: abload.de/image.php?img=img_257551sjp.jpgYou may have to wait a few minutes until the trailer or ads are through, though.

But all the other main leads were were on last night, yes? (Not always that observant but looking at the programme it looks as if they were).
Really enjoyable show.
Edit - looks as if Don was the understudy as well.
