Amazing. Bet he can't believe it going from unknown to starring in half a sixpense and then broadway with bernadette all in under 2 years. Hope we dont lose him to NY though. Says he starts in Jan but isn't he doing panto? Panto ends January 14th, he begins in Dolly on January 20th... so either he will rehearse for Dolly before panto then go over in time for dress rehearsals, or he will leave Dick Whittington early.

Yes, huge congratulations to Charlie - an amazing opportunity. However, I assumed he would be playing Cornelius Hackl (the Michael Crawford part in the film) but is playing Barnaby Tucker the sidekick which is quite honestly a much smaller role.

Maybe so But its a role in one of the biggest shows on Broadway so fair play to the lad!

I can imagine how much effort it took to write "role" in place of "part"!

Great and very deserved opportunity for Charlie, I now hope with Bernadette carrying the show, who is quite a name in her right, the media will now go and re-review Hello Dolly.

Barnaby is a small role but Taylor Trensch, whom Charlie is replacing, got good reviews and a nice career boost from it.

An amazing opportunity for him and there must be dozens of young American actors who could have played the role too.

Gypsy went out on BBC in-between Christmas/New Year 2015 and a DVD followed about 6 months later, so hopefully the same case with this.

Have scoured the Christmas/New Years tv listings and it doesn’t seem to be on unfortunately! I did notice that Half a Sixpence (the film) was shown on bb4 on New Year’s Day a few years back. Maybe there’s been a bit of a mix up. Slightly sad about it but maybe it means there will be a dvd. Fingers crossed!

Following the screening of the archive footage of the show, there is talk of it being further edited and shown this Christmas according to Baz. We've heard this before, but nice to see its still a possibility! Hopefully we will be lucky enough to even get a DVD ala Gypsy after they broadcast on TV.

There was definitely rumour of it screening last Christmas which I got my hopes up about, lets hope this year it comes to fruition!

The show does seem to be getting a rebrand as they prepare to give this version a longer life by releasing it
It appears to be changing to become KIPPS - The New Half A Sixpence Musical (as indicated by that tweet)
Not sure what impact that will have on how it appeals to audiences... we shall see

I noticed on a Facebook post this is now available for amateur productions using the title above... Anyone know why the title has changed?
