Live filming signs on the doors and around the theatre for tonight! Might just be for archive or promo if it ever goes on tour. But would be wonderful if for DVD or TV

To say the atmosphere in here is electric is an understatement! Sold out, with the back of the Upper full of people standing! As soon as the announcement was over, a solid 30 second of just applause and cheering before the Overture began, Charlie getting entrance applause and alot of responses and ovations after every number! The two girls duet on the pier literally stopped the show in its tracks from the audience response. Wow, what a final show!

I mean, that is how you close a show! Four standing ovations, three midway through Act II. The two big numbers in Act II were thrilling, clapping along, cheering, it was deafening, the energy in that room was truly thrilling. Also bursts of applause at significant moments throughout, Emma getting emotional in her final scene, and Charlie clearly moved at curtain call. Cameron and Stiles and Drew came on to thank the cast, crew and audience, as well as praise Charlie and saying he knew he was a star at his first audition. They then danced with the cast as the titles came down. A thrilling night I wont forget anytime soon. Will probably have more to say later, but I'll leave it with that haha. I just hope we see this production, as Cameron said, live on in the near future.

As for the show... I'm glad I've seen it, I liked it, I didn't love it. A bit too "ey-up guvnor 'ows yer father" for me, perhaps. I thought that too. It grated quite quickly.

Nice to know that Half a Sixpence went out with a bang tonight, mainly for the hard-working cast, but it was not a show that I enjoyed. My lengthy comments can be found on the theatremonkey website. Now I am greatly looking forward to seeing the talented and personable Charlie Stemp in the Palladium Panto and hoping he will have a better character to play than the gormless Kipps.

Dare say he'll be forever grateful to gormless Kipps for giving him a one in a million chance to show us all his boundless talents. (And possibly to Bryan Dick who was first announced in the role in Chichester. Not forgetting Cam Mack who had the foresight to pluck this lad out of the chorus of a Mamma Mia touring production...) Definitely looking forward to seeing him again in January, and hope he'll be around for many years to come.

Yes, Bryan Dick did the revival of Hobsons Choice which went into the West End. He was either contracted or chose to and the dates clashed. Kipps is a star vehicle and can make star which hopefully it will do for Charlie! Such is the luck of this business we call show!
There are lots of revivals of musicals that Charlie would be ideal for - Me & My Girl, Crazy For You, Barnum, Billy etc. He needs to create a role in a new hit musical ideally...

I agree that he'd be superb for any of the shows you name, but I reckon he's got more in him than just 'cheeky chappy'. (I imagine his Dick will be that role too...!) Let's hope someone can come up with something that'll show a different side to him.

Trying not to lower the tone, I refrained from saying I was looking forward to seeing Charlie Stemp's Dick, but caiaphas has boldly gone there, so let's hope it does not disappoint!

Camerons speech... you can just imagine how loud the audience was considering this was them at their quietest!

Emma is doing one of those "in conversation" things. Sure it will be brilliant!

Devon is following in the panto footsteps of Charlie and Emma, she is leading Snow White at Theatre Royal Bath this Christmas! Apart from Charlie, obvs, I really, really liked Devon. I though she was delightful. They probably did it at every performance, but when I saw it, Devon wanted Charlie to receive all the applause at the finale, but Charlie wanted Devon to receive all the applause, but Devon...well, you get the idea. It was utterly charming.
