A bolder, less reverential director would have edited it down or cut completely. It's a throwback to mid 20th century musical theatre convention (ballet sequences etc) that look dreadfully jarring and dated in the 21st century.
It is integral to the plot. But also this production is known for restoring elements of the score that had been cut from previous productions (hence why it is longer than usual). It wouldn't have made any sense to advertise this as a restored version and then cut a big chunk. |

I can’t remember a thing about that bit in BoM. Although I hated it so much that by Act 2 I was arms folded and in full burlyface mode. Liberace could have come on and it wouldn’t have registered.

Thank GOD someone feels like I do about Mormon. It was fun and a novelty for about the first 45 minutes, then descended into banality and repetition. The friend I went with felt the same. We found it excruiciating after a while. I completely mentally checked out in act II.

The section of music towards the end of the ballet (11.06 onwards into the piece on the 2015 recording) is one of my favourite moments in musical theatre. Personally I think the ballet has some great moments and enjoy the way the choreography flows with the story.

According to Filmedonstage.com is it under Trafalgar Releasing and US dates are expected as well, just like An American in Paris. |

I doubt it, but it does I hope it's with Ruthie Ann Miles who's wonderful as lady Thiang.
I went to see the show on Saturday evening as it was papered again and got free tickets.It was sad to see the Palladium with so many empty seats on a Saturday evening. Stalls and Dress Circle were about 75% full but the Upper Circle looked very empty on the sides, although a bit busier in the middle. I enjoyed the show again and it was interesting to see Naoko Mori's portrayal of Lady Thiang, too comical and OTT for my liking but she sang well

To see it again cheaply your best bet is the TodayTix daily rush I think - they seem to be releasing tickets throughout the day, initial release is 10:00. Just looked and £25 will currently get you row U in the stalls for tonight. |

I was due to go to tomorrows show, however I've had a bad relapse and I wouldn't be able to even get there.
Thankfully the man was very helpful and I've managed to book for September instead, but I was really looking forward to tomorrow.
