I saw this last night and thought it was ok, didn't love it though - not sure whether this was more down to directorial choices than the acting/play itself. I was more concerned about the shower and what it was doing to the carpet than the play oddly. It did get a standing ovation from quite a few people though.
The lady next to me had seen numerous versions and declared the nudity unnecessary and Jack O'Connell neither charismatic nor handsome enough to be Brick, although i thought he did really well in the role. Sienna Miller grew on me throughout - she's got an awful lot to do in the first act.
I was out of the theatre by 10.40, but it did start late, so I assume a 10.20/10/30 finish is more likely.

Congrats. Where was your seat. Seat was F5, great view. The shower is on stage left, so people sitting on that side of the audience and close to the stage (as I was) would possibly get a better view. However, he takes his clothes off on more than one occasion, so I think everybody gets a chance to see whatever they want. |

The stage is not particularly high, and it is very raked. You will have a great view, and if you are sitting close to where the ice is kept, Sienna Miller might come disturbingly close to you while putting liquor away during a particular scene. |

She can't act to save her life
Williams is controlled hysteria
Actually difficult to do well
She is trying so hard to maintain her accent
Most of it inaudible
Shrill screeching
The accents are truly horrific
The set is awful and doesn't help the vocals as it amplifies the shrieking
There is a very small member
And some breasts way past their prime
The direction is aimless
And this is disgrace compared to the Novello revival some years back
Which was tense and well acted

They are actors, they have been asked to partake in nudity, they have done so for their job and any respectful person would not then go on a message board to deride the size of their genitalia or make ageist comments about their boobs. |
