I wasn't that impressed with the audio of Moya's first AIATY. The first minute where she was going into her head voice didn't sound right. I can't describe it any better than that. Apart from that she just reminded me of Marisha. I think I just prefer Amber's slightly cleaner vocals. Ive conlcuded that I'm unimpressed also. I seems that all the Effie's are directed to do the high screeches after "Please dont go! Away from me! Stay with me! Stay with me!" regardless of whether it sounds good with their voice or not. Heres her best performance: And her Debut Audio: Her most recent performance just doesnt seem to have a patch on her old one - which gives me goosebumps and feels the entire way through! I honestly find it much more effective when Moya starts low and growly for the "Please Dont go!" part of the song, I'm not even sure why, it just feels so natural and raw to her voice.

It takes a while for actors to get into the role, especially as an alt.

Made me notice how beautiful the flute part is going through the front end of the song...

Thank you all for your advice, I think I will try and catch Marisha at some point and then go back for Moya or Karen if I enjoy her.

Does anyone know which of the Effies is performing tonight? Amazingly I won the TodayTix lottery so seeing it for the first time tonight - was starting to think it was impossible after the amount of times I've lost!

Saw the show tonight with the new cast and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Marisha was on as Effie and I think she's actually improved. Her acting felt more nuanced and her vocals were as strong as ever. A real tour de force performance.
Brennyn Lark as Deena I thought was absolutely brilliant, especially given that she only started yesterday. She didn't quite have the stage presence of Liisi, and her 'Listen' needs some work, but a brilliant performance and I genuinely believe that by the end of her run she could be as good as, if not better than Liisi in the role.
Asmeret as Lorrel. As brilliant as she ever was. Such a presence, amazing voice and absolutely nails the comedy.
Kimmy Edwards is a HUGE improvement over Lily Frazer as Michelle. I know it's not the biggest part, but she's much more suited to it vocally than Lily was.
Had Ryan Reid as Curtis - probably my favourite in the role. Has a much better voice than Joe Aaron Reid and I thought he gave off the whole sinister vibe a lot better than either Joe or Rohan who I've seen previously.
I'd seen Tosh as Jimmy when he was understudy previously and he's still brilliant. Has the same energy, killer vocal chops and the comedy too...it's all in the eyes.
Ensemble generally good. Some tightening up needed but it's still early days for them.
Enthusiastic audience. Some mid-song cheering but not enough to be an annoyance. Full standing ovation at the end.
Hopefully will go back in the New Year to catch Moya.

I know I struggled to like the guy who replaced Tyrone, hopefully this promoted emseble member is great.

No worse than the last one, but nothing to write home about either. Same with the new CC. Definitely sits ahead of the last chap, but behind Tyrone.

Dreamgirls are performing on Strictly this Sunday! Marisha has her concerts, so unless it isn't live, Moya or Karen are likely to get a chance to shine. I have One Night Only vibes.

The Sunday show is pre-recorded on the Saturday so I'm guessing it will be Marisha

It is usually prerecorded on Saturday, probably before the dreamgirls show on Saturday night.

The Sunday show is recorded on the Saturday after the main show. Still if Marisha is on on the Saturday eve, could mean one of the other girls gets a chance.
Edit – wow 3 responses in quick succession haha

Oh wow, I didn't even know! Well then we'll see what happens. What time does the Saturday show end? Would Marisha have time to go across town to the studio after Dreamgirls finishes at 10?

This Saturday's live show finishes at 10 past 8 so I don't think she will get there on time, although I'm not sure how quickly they go on to filming the Sunday show after the live one ? Some of the performers are pre recorded even outwith the live show and the 'Sunday' record so... No way of knowing Marisha seems to be the fav so I presume they'll try their hardest to get her doing it. EDIT I just remembered its filmed in Borehamwood so yeh I doubt it will be Marisha unless its recorded at some other point

Give her a promo chance that the other two have already had. Also, she is the (I don't know how to wrd this better) second prominant lead it seems, so getting her out there will be good! I'm guessing its a solo too, as all of the Ensemble will be onstage at the Savoy unless they get the swings on to do it with her.

I've just remembered, aren't the Leading Ladies performing that night too? They wouldn't get Amber to do the Dreamgirls number would they?!

Sometimes the pro dances and musical performances are recorded before the live Saturday show starts, so it could still be Marisha who performs, all depends on when they choose to record it. Personally I can see it being Moya (especially if it is just a solo number) as she's the one who doesn't have a show that day.
But yes the Leading Ladies are also performing, I doubt they'd get Amber to do it but anything's possible I guess

I’d be fairly confident that it won’t be Amber. The performance is essentially an advert for the Strictly viewers saying “see what you could get if you bought tickets”.
It would be the highest level of stupidity to use a former cast member who is there to promote her new album. It would be confusing and blur the lines between the two segments, and not in a good way.

The guest performance on the Sunday show is recorded either early in the evening before the live show (I.e. 5.30-6pm or so), or else may have been recorded weeks ago!

Kelly Clarkson from this week's was recorded two weeks ago. From what I've heard they're ducking all the main cast out of the show on Saturday afternoon to pre-record. So if you're seeing the Sat Matinee I think it will be all covers.
