Trevor Nunn will be directing Rattigan's "Love In Idleness" and Peter Shaffer's "Lettice and Lovage" at the Menier

The real question is who will be in Lettice and Lovage...

I am definitely up for both these.
The best artistic announcement made this year so far.

Is it just me or this quite a late announcement, particularly for Love In Idleness? I've already booked all my weekends for the duration of the run and I don't like coming into town on a weekday, so they're really losing out on possible ticket sales from compulsive bookers. Not that it's so big a theatre they'd actually miss me, I guess.

OMGosh. I said I wanted a revival of 'Lettice & Lovage' in a different thread ages ago. I must be psychotic!
Katherine Parkinson for the lead please. She's the only one who could do it justice.

It does seem a rather late announcement but at the Menier's prices, I'm unlikely to book anyway. Always good to see a Rattigan done, especially a lesser-known work, and the audience seems to be out there; however, it's hardly any time since Jermyn Street Theatre did Love In Idleness, so it does seem an odd choice.

Jermyn Street did "Less Than Kind", the original version of this which was (supposedly) heavily rewritten at the behest of the Lunts. It seems the last two acts are fairly different although I suspect few people have seen both and are able to confirm how significant the changes are! Be interesting to compare although I agree with you about the Menier's prices.

Don't think I've seen anything at the Menier since Abigails Party, it always seem too expensive for what they put on, and after the bench seating at the Party (or rather the gentlemen of a shall we say, hefty nature who were reluctant to budge up to let me sit in my space), not keen on a re-occurence so unless there is some megastar casting for these plays, will probably give them a miss.

You missed a good Travesties, Marwood. They changed the layout, seating not too uncomfortable. Bench seats are ok for young 'uns but frankly a pain for me. The Almeida is truly awful because they tip up too so you can be in a double tip with a complete stranger. Got lucky at Mary Stuart the other day, no one next to me!

Maybe there'll be some opening offers to tempt the curious!

I saw a touring production of Less Than Kind at the Richmond theatre in 2013 - as its title indicates, it's a version - and a clever one - of the Gertrude/Claudius/Hamlet entanglement. What I most remember about it is the amazingly accurate Canadian accent used by the leading man.

A quick question please : Does the seating at the Menier have backs or is it like the majority of seats at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse : backless ?

This wasn't on my radar at all until I saw Baz's tweet - will definitely try and nab tickets for this on feb 1st. I must admit that, as a fan of Buffy and Nurse Jackie, Anthony Head and Eve Best are definitely the draws for me!

I wish it was possible to see ticket availability before public booking opens (tomorrow). As there was a workaround mentioned for doing this with the NT, is anyone aware of a similar trick for the MCF, please?

Anyone know what time general tickets go on sale tomorrow? I'm guessing something like 10am?
