There are a whole range of different American accents - actors can be better at doing some of them than others.
(And sometimes audiences think an accent is being done badly/well when it's actually not, because it's an accent they're not familiar with.)

Ouch. Good on him for 'the show must go on'! But given the prices, I'll wait til later in the run to book, in the hopes the cast lurgy passes and does not return...

I'm coming to visit, and I think I want to see this. I love Albee, and I've never seen this show. When the seats are partial view, how is the view? I mean, it's listed partial view, but the seat right next to is full view, so what's the deal?

Hi I also have a question - does anyone know how popular this is at dayseats? Me and a bud are mincing it on weds with (lotteries permitting) a double show day and would love to get cheap tix for this (I hear it's £5 for a day Seat? Can this be right? Is it the front row?) but can't get to theatre until 11.20am earliest. Does anyone know if there might still be some? Or if the box office give out cheap tickets if u give them a bit of twinkle?

Yup, they're £5. I guess the stage is very high so the view will be pretty restricted.

Only 8 tickets per performance for the day seats. I turned up at 10.05 yesterday and they had all gone

Utter rubbish. Not the production, although why this should be given such a high-profile revival beats me, but the play is neither fish nor fowl. I pity the actors who have very little meat to get hold of here.
Tragedy? Comedy? Who cares! It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

A colleague at work said at the weekend she had visited a city farm, reporting that she ended up spending quite a bit of time looking into a goat's eyes. I found it hard to refrain from asking if anything further had happened!

Talk about a dark comedy! This was brilliant with two great central performances.
This has some really uncomfortable laugh out loud moments. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was very impressed!
Great production! Definitely one to see

Does Sophie Okonedo come out at Stage Door?

That was very good indeed, especially Sophie Okonedo. Understudy on for Ross this afternoon.
Damian Lewis' accent is all over the place but he was absolutely fine, as was Archie Madekwe as the conflicted son (called Billy, which is ironic given the theme of this pitch black comedy).

Time flew by for me tonight. What a thought-provoking piece. Feels very strong to me already. I was not at all prepared for Sophie Okonedo's final entrance. Given everything that had come before it, I found it utterly shocking and horrifyingly moving. Lots of laughter - most justified, but some people seemed to find too much near the end funny. Yes, it's loaded with deliciously dark humour but I'll remember this as being like a Greek tragedy. Loved it. I saw the play before with Jonathan Pryce and Kate Fahy so knew what to expect, but was still shocked by it. Completely agree with your assessment, it is a dark comedy which eventually turns tragic. Lots of shocked gasps from way down in the stalls at various points. So the play has retained its power to provoke.

Glad to hear that, I too saw the Jonathan Pryce production sadly more years ago then I care to remember !
Can't wait to revisit the play in a couple of weeks..

Just how terrible are the dayseats that they've been knocked down to £5, and how early would you say someone should arrive on a Saturday (flexible about whether it's matinee or evening)?

Well. I rather liked Damian Lewis' trousers. I wonder where he got them?
It was much funnier than I thought it would be actually. I did like how Damian Lewis and Sophie Okonedo played it rather like a couple in an American sitcom from the 60s. Sort of 'I Love Lucy' but with livestock and without lots of falling over and calling out for Ethel. Made the whole thing more surreal. Thought Archie Madekwe was pretty good too.
Really though, I just felt sorry for Sylvia. Happily minding her own business one day and ends up romping in a barn with the first man she sees. We've all been there. It didn't have to end like that.
What with 'Beauty & The Beast' and now Damian Lewis, bestiality is on the up it seems. Whatever next.
And why hasn't the Haymarket discovered contactless yet?

I love Lucy - Lucille Ball, one of the most under rated comediennes , actually actors, of the 20th century. I always thought Jennifer Anniston had something of her quality and could have become a great comedic actor but seems she didn't want to.

Morning all - I'm day seating for this at the moment but can't find a queue for it anywhere? Perhaps I'm the first one but I'm just stood outside the front of the theatre and I can't see a sign saying box office? I walked around to the stage door but nothing there either - am I in the right place?!

Went last week and I was the first in line at 9:30. Only 5 people there when the box office opened.
