I positively hate Sondheim but it is so amazing Imelda is hardly out of the theatre these days. Such a gem to see her on stage every single time! If it lands in the Olivier I might give it a go... They should bring Jamie Parker on board as well, he is such a fan  |

Oh god. I hope it transfers as I bet it'll be almost impossible for non members to grab tickets. My usual public service announcement - get an Amex card for priority booking with reserved seats before public booking opens. |

Fantastic news! It's been quite a while since I felt this amount of buzz with a National Theatre announcement. Director? Who might it be? I'd be happy to see Maria Friedman give it ago after her success with Merrily. Norris himself perhaps?

Well I wont moan anymore to my friend who is a NT supporter about how much she pays every year for the privilege. At least she will get first dibs of seats when they go on sale. She is now officially my best friend.

They should not have announces this yet as I am too hyped. My favourite theatre venue is doing a musical of my
Favourite composers with my favouite actress!!! To say I am exited is the understatement of the century. Two Imelda Staunton shows in one year!!

I don't know this musical, but I love the song 'Losing My Mind'...which I'm sure Imelda is totally going to ace!
It's great to know that Rufus Norris is taking up a musical revival after the absence of them with Nicholas Hytner, I know technically the Threepenny Opera was one but it can be debatable as it's a new adaptation and a lot of people consider it a play not a musical. I wonder what others will happen at the National?

It's kinda the same slot as Amadeus this year, when did booking open for that? And I wouldn't be too sure about it not selling out fast - I think this is gonna be a scrum for tickets and they'll disappear quickly, as is usually the case with big National hits. Hopefully the NT might do their usual holding some back and releasing at a later date - or maybe it'll even extend if it doesn't clash with Gypsy on Broadway. Or they could re-cast for an extend/transfer. There aren't many like Imelda but there are lots who could do it! |

I don't want to jinx it, but do musicals get totally wiped and sold out at the NT? I've seen a number of shows there and didn't particularly have difficulty getting any.

Maybe it wont be a total scrum after all. Though I do also think that it's to do with the quality of the musical. What was the last musical at the National to have such a large and positive buzz around it like Follies seems to be having? Wonder.land certainly not, London Road? Well they did bring it back, and from the smallest space to the largest space, but I missed out so not sure on how it sold. Notable musical productions-wise, I guess we're then going back to Jerry Springer the Opera, 2003? Then further back into the Trevor Nunn tenure! Or have I been a complete doofus and forgotten another landmark musical there between then & now? |

I really want to see this but I'm desperately hoping it doesn't go on sale until the new year money wise.
The hubby is going to go nuts if I try booking something else.
There is also so much locally I want to see too, that I haven't booked yet. Why did I promise him, no more credit cards!!
I want to live a champagne lifestyle on a pint and pasty wage.
