Some Follies tickets available now for early previews, just got seats in row D circle for £28.... not bad considering they go up a lot later in the run.

This is a further bad sign from the NT, this ballot.
Their regular Platforms are now set to become £7 per ticket. For (sometimes) a 45min talk.
And the asking for money from the public to mount this very production.
Is anyone else concerned?

No? They're reasonably upfront about finances, that War Horse stopped being a cash cow, the drum revolve needs TLC, this is a huge production, they can't afford to maintain Sunday openings, etc. Yeah, the platform price has gone up, but since I've started going to the National, the cheapest tickets have gone up in price from £10 to £18, so I don't think it's an out-of-line price increase.
It's interesting that they're putting this talk in the Dorfman when you can fit so many more people in the Lyttelton or Olivier, so there must be a very specific reason to put it in the Dorfman. I guess the smaller size of the auditorium is why this platform in particular is more expensive and will involve a ballot. (I'm having trouble understanding why the ballot in itself is a bad financial sign.)
From previous conversations on this board, the National does have to sell a high number of tickets to stay solvent, and the double-whammy of Common and Salome must have caused a notable hit on this summer's takings, but I don't think we necessarily need to *worry* long-term. Just keep buying tickets, buy food and drink on-site if you can, and trust that the bounce-back will come (starting with Macbeth, followed by Antony & Cleopatra, and whatever else comes in between).

I got an email for the Sondheim ballot at about 1pm today and then another at 2pm clarifying the process for people who were having difficulties booking. Website still didn't work for me at 4pm but the box office was very efficient over the phone and there were still tickets available by then. The NT's website is so shonky...
Sorry to people who didn't get through. It's worth keeping an eye on the website, you never know when tickets might be available.

I know it was rumoured by Baz a few weeks ago, but I believe this is indeed being performed without an interval.

No interval? But how can I have an interval G&T without an interval I ask you? The clue is in the title of the drink Rufus. Interval G&T. That's simply not cricket.
Is he losing his mind?

Giod god I know first hand this man loves an interval, you should of seen how thrilled he was when Musical Marathon and I Loved Lucy had one!

I know it was rumoured by Baz a few weeks ago, but I believe this is indeed being performed without an interval. I'll believe it when I see it (which will be two weeks from Tuesday... and then twice more later in the run, because where this material is concerned I'm a little obsessed), but fingers crossed they follow through on this and do it as a one-act. That's how it played in the original Broadway production, and there's no obvious place for an act break.

Des anyone's think they will have return tickets for the sondhiem talk and also I am debating just going up to hang around the NT stage door or something to get a glimpse of mr sondhiem ( I know it sounds quite sad)and maybe say hello. Do you think it would work?

Are there any 15 or 20 pound tickets coming up in the future? I keep checking the site and no luck, so far. Seems tickets are moving, but are they holding back seats in the first three rows in the stalls.

Seems tickets are moving, but are they holding back seats in the first three rows in the stalls. It's the National, so they'll certainly be holding back some seats, in that there are always a certain number of day seats/seats sold via Friday rush. At least some seats in the first three rows in the stalls were available for advance purchase when tickets went on sale, though - I booked a front-row seat for a performance in December.

I agree that there is no natural break in follies to have an interval. But won't that make the show about 5 hours long? After all it is Sondheim.

Every production seems to be different! 2h, 2h 15m, 2h 10m, 2:20m, 2h 30m, 2h 40m... so do with that what you will
